Did you happen to catch these tweets from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio during the World Series on Sunday night? He talked about how “beautiful” it was to see the Mets in the World Series. How it’s been a “privilege” to watch the team play. He “fell in love” with the Mets this year, you see.
Well, according to today’s New York Post, they were all written by a staffer and not the mayor himself. What a phony!
November the First. The New York @Mets in the #WorldSeries. Beautiful.

You would have taken it in April. And all Summer. Right before “The Trade”. After it too.

It’s been a privilege to watch this team. I’m a born and bred Red Sox fan.

Something happens when you’re a Sox fan living here for a few decades. You slowly fall in love with the Mets.

There’s a kindred. And this year, it was just so easy. This team! All the franchise has been through. It feels so familiar.

October 2004. Anxious and frustrated. Sox down and out in the ALCS. Just a faint whiff of hope left hanging in the air.

It was practically over. Another (ANOTHER!) letdown. My team was getting annihilated.

All it took was teamwork and a spark…the Roberts steal, the Mueller RBI..then the whirlwind that was Ortiz.

And of course that bloody sock. I've seen magic in this world. Real, honest to god magic…

This is all to say… I’ve seen it happen. I’ve been witness. I’ve been here.

All of New York walks behind this squad, one game at a time.
