Conservative and foster mother Brittany Cover ripped into those mocking the foster and adoptive family we told you about earlier today in that CNN segment over the amount of milk and food they buy for their 10 kids:
"A gallon of milk was $1.99. Now it's $2.79. When you buy 12 gallons a week times four weeks, that's a lot of money."@EvanMcS goes grocery shopping with the Stotlers and shows us how badly inflation is hitting the middle class. pic.twitter.com/39hPPRHLja

“I didn’t have Twitter mocking a foster and adoptive family for buying enough milk to meet the needs of their 9 kids and new placement on my bingo card for today, but here we are,” she tweeted. “This place is nothing if not always on-brand”

Libs should be enraged, too. But they’re not for some reason:
"Why don't more good people sign up to become foster parents?"
CNN airs a great piece about inflation being a burden on foster/adoptive family and them trying to afford to meet the needs of all the kids in their care.
Twitter: Mocks them for buying so much food.
Me: RAGE.

The parents in the segment are heroes, plain and simple:
This family stepped out to tell an important story. They are good, selfless people. Taking in TEENS. Do you know how hard it is to find foster families that take in teenagers? Do you have ANY idea? But sure, mock them. That'll do the trick.

We’d like to see more blue-checks call these people out:
I'm so angry and should probably step away from twitter for the day, but as a former foster parent I feel this deep need to defend these people. Mocking them for buying 12 gallons of milk is absolutely shameful and should be called out.

We will note that Briana Keilar is pushing back:
Did you watch the piece? In addition to their 2 biological children they have adopted 5 kids and are fostering one. https://t.co/EUHFQtHRPE

As is the CNN correspondent who interviewed the family:
Truly remarkable number of assholes on here attempting to dunk on a charming family who lays out how it feels to shop with price rises. Very wise and cool tweets. Glad you’re all weathering the economy so well! https://t.co/AqA26YbwIA

Just awful:
Do you know about the food insecurity of foster children? Of teens coming into care? Do you know how important it is for foster families to feed these children and heal their food trauma? But sure, latch onto the 12 gallons and joke about milk baths.

More straight-up fire from Brittany:
One of the most important things a foster family can do is have plenty of food and have it easily accessible for their placements. Food is a source of trauma and having a stocked fridge and pantry is a part of the healing process.
— Brittany (@bccover) November 4, 2021
It might seem so minor given the other major reasons kids come into care, but this is something that foster families regularly deal with. This sweet family opened their home to America and got ugliness in return. Shame on us.

I said it earlier and I'll say it again: @EvanMcS did EXCELLENT reporting. He's good people. This isn't about the coverage, it's about the response.
