Greenpeace activists have suspended themselves from the Fred Hartman Bridge, effectively shutting down the Houston Ship Channel to ships trying to enter and leave the port:
HAPPENING NOW: We're in the heart of the fossil fuel industry (the largest oil export channel in the US) to confront Trump & the oil industry.

This is to get attention ahead of tonight’s Dem debate in Houston with they hope that the candidates will “promise to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable”:
As we hang here, the Democratic candidates are getting ready for the #DemDebates just a few hours from now here in Houston.
We challenge every candidate on stage tonight to promise to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable if they become president. #PeopleVsOil pic.twitter.com/k0Qwl0zWxl

Maybe this is really a Trump ad in disguise?
Well this isn't something I've seen on a traffic camera! Protesters hanging off the Fred Hartman Bridge in an effort to stop Ship Channel traffic. They are against the use of fossil fuels. One northbound lane blocked on 146 at the bridge causing traffic delays. pic.twitter.com/oTEEait93L

And what’s the carbon footprint of the response?
The Coast Guard has closed a portion of the Houston Ship Channel due to protestors near Baytown, Texas, Thursday. At 6:30 a.m., Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received notification that approximately 11 individuals were suspended from the Fred Hartman Bridge. #khou pic.twitter.com/fgBg9mQDLB

They better have bought carbon offsets for all this:
A Station Houston 29-foot Response Boat-Small boat crew were launched to the scene. The Houston Ship Channel is closed from Light 102A to Light 104. As of 7:30 a.m., the vessel queue is one vessel inbound and two vessels outbound. #khou #HTownRush

Or, and we’re just spit-balling here, maybe law enforcement can just leave them hanging for a few hours until they beg to be rescued?
Law enforcement filing in to try and negotiate with @greenpeaceusa activists dangling from the Fred Hartman Bridge between Baytown and La Porte ahead of tonight’s @DNC debate in Houston #hounews

Lock them up:
My office is aware of the situation on the bridge over the ship channel. I've spoken to @SheriffEd_HCSO and we will be working together on this.
