Welcome to Twitchy, your Hunter Biden pardon headquarters for December 2024.
Hey, since Joe Biden issued a blanket pardon for his degenerate son, it's only fitting that Twitchy provides blanket coverage of it.
The actual announcement is one thing, but our favorite aspects of the pardon have been how it exposed Biden's and Democrats' lies about 'no one being above the law,' how this just shows that Biden 'is a good dad,' and, of course, the dead legacy media twisting themselves into knots to defend this blatant act of nepotism that is a Biden crime family hallmark.
I don't need to repeat it again, but the saying is true: 'If Democrats didn't have double standards, they wouldn't have any standards at all.'
When the legacy media wasn't being hypocrites, however, they were demonstrating to the world why they are dead. Deceased. Kaput. Kicked the bucket. T*ts up and taking on water.

And no one demonstrated this more throughout the Hunter Biden coverage than our favorite apparatchiks at Politico, who dusted off their favorite saw whenever Democrats do something horrible.
You know it, you loathe it, and they can't stop doing it: REPUBLICANS POUNCE!
Republicans pounce on Biden pardoning his son, Hunter https://t.co/B0FadRaTIY

Not only is the dead media morally bankrupt, but it appears that they are also creatively and intellectually bankrupt.
Why do they keep dusting this failed response off? They know they will be mocked for it, and they just can't help themselves.
I mean this one had to be on purpose, right? https://t.co/H4tEmIetUH

It's definitely on purpose. The only question is what that purpose is.
There will be no shortage of additional articles today here at Twitchy about the hypocrisy of Democrats justifying the pardon, but I wanted to focus briefly on this aspect of it. Why does the media insist on rake-stepping whenever Republicans notice another awful action from the left? From Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal to Biden's obvious senility to something as obvious as banning gas stoves, the problem is never what the Democrats do, but the fact that Republicans caught them doing it.
But why?
I swear, news publications use “Republicans pounce” now because they know it’ll drive up traffic from Republicans reacting to the overused phrasing. https://t.co/oeHDmmrp5E

This is a pretty solid theory about the 'Republicans pounce' phenomenon.
Deep down, some in the media probably know they are a laughingstock. And their viewership or readership numbers are so low, that the only way they can get any attention is through clickbait headlines.
The entire legacy media has turned itself into BuzzFeed. It doesn't get much more pathetic than that. (And it didn't work out so hot for BuzzFeed.)
The fact that anyone in the media is still typing “Republicans pounce” in a headline is proof of their utter contempt. They need to be destroyed to the point they are afraid to to do this. https://t.co/p9PjGSA1LL

This is another good theory. They hate us. They know we hate them back. Continuing to write about pouncing is their way of showing their sheer contempt for their dwindling audience.
We'll call this one the Disney business model. It is not sustainable, but they're going to keep doing it because their disdain for America and Americans is far more powerful than their need to stay relevant.

Another potential theory is the idea that they don't realize they have been rejected by ... well, pretty much everyone. They think that if they just keep repeating their failed propaganda, their message will sink in from osmosis.
It's not a bad plan. It worked for Lenin, Stalin, and Mao. The difference is that those people had the power to enforce their message. Once upon a time, so did American corporate media. Today though, they have very little, if any, of that power remaining.
Politico stealth editing the headline of its “Republicans pounce” article is the funniest part of all this. pic.twitter.com/1weEstirbf

Ahh, here is the 'It wasn't us' strategy.
They put these things out for attention, then quietly change what they said like they are the Ministry of Truth.
This might have worked back in the 1970s when it was much harder to capture and share their lies than it is in 2024. It won't work today, especially now that Twitter is a home for free speech and Elon Musk will not suppress anyone calling the media out with receipts.
HAHAHAHA 💀

They can’t come up with a better headline than rEpUbLiCaNs pOuNcE. Bunch of idiots running this “news” org. 🤦🏻♀️ https://t.co/lCHsetyCIj
To be honest, this hypothesis probably needs to be investigated some more. Should we call it The Confederacy of Dunces Theory?
They do it simply because they are idiots.
It would be difficult to prove otherwise.
“Republicans pounce…” The lack of self awareness is astounding. pic.twitter.com/I41ZI3y0lH

It's like watching a car wreck happen in slow motion. You know what the outcome will be, but it can be impossible to look away.
But here is my grand unified theory on why the media continues to do things like 'Republican's Pounce.'
All. Of. The. Above.
Yes, they are idiots. That does not mean there aren't smart people working in the legacy media, there are. But when you become part of a captured organization, you have to toe the line, no matter how idiotic that line is or how you might feel about it personally.
Yes, they still think they can deceive us by stealth editing their content. Someone really should tell them that we live in the Internet age, but honestly, it's too funny watching them be ignorant of this, over and over.
Yes, they think they still have power. In the same way that a dying animal will lash out, even if its clawed swipes lack any strength, many in the media hilariously still believe they can control us with false narratives.
Yes, they hate us. They cannot hide how much they hate us. Just look how quickly so many in the media immediately started blaming as many voter segments as they could -- from Latinos to women to Gen X -- after Kamala Harris crashed and burned. They are actually PROUD of their hate for Americans. Because they still believe, ardently, that they are better than us.
And yes, they think that attention means relevance. So, they will continue to write things like 'Republicans pounce' because they operate under the delusion that if we notice them, we might believe what they say (or at least give them enough attention that it might briefly save their jobs).
I say this often on Twitter, but sadly for the media, even most five-year-olds know the difference between good attention and bad attention. The fact that they can't spot that difference means that they have been reduced to little more than social media trolls who just want to spark outrage. Credibility means nothing to them anymore.
The great Auron MacIntyre always says, ''You don’t hate journalists enough. You think you do but you don’t.'
This has been true for years and it remains true today. But something has changed in 2024. We still hate them and they give us every reason to do so. But even more than hate, we have simply stopped paying attention to them for any reason other than to laugh at them.
We need to keep mocking them though, until their corrupted institution is utterly destroyed.
I will suggest that going forward, we modify MacIntyre's axiomatic truth:
'We don't mock the dead legacy media enough. We think we do, but we don't.'
So, keep pouncing, conservatives. Keep pouncing until these media outlets are stomped into oblivion.
Then, we can pounce on them some more.
