Chicago under Mayor Brandon Johnson is a city that seems to have taken the pro-criminal and pro-crime policies up a notch, and I didn't even think that was possible.
One example is a man who was still on the street despite nearly 50 prior arrests where he was allowed to commit another horrific crime:

Lawrence Reed had 49 prior arrests (10 felonies) including knocking someone unconscious this August pic.twitter.com/1Mrnt3Yp7z
Ten felonies? Yep, ten.
How can anyone with TEN FELONIES still be free?! https://t.co/xKXA51kUJD

When you have a mayor like Brandon Johnson (and some of his predecessors) and a leftist city council, that's what happens. Yet Johnson would like everybody to believe the only real problems in his city are caused by ICE enforcing federal immigration laws. The criminals get a pass. Here's yet another recent example:
REPORTER: "An illegal alien from Nicaragua grabbed a woman on the north side last week, bashed her head into the sidewalk, knocked her unconscious and raped her..."

CHICAGO MAYOR: "Let's move on." pic.twitter.com/HUVrK66POP
It's too bad Chicago voters don't seem to want to move on from putting leftist lunatics in the mayor's office.
But this is the story I wanted to focus on because of Johnson's response that is bereft of self-awareness:
Parents and community members are outraged after a video that has gone viral on social media shows a mom and her children being attacked by students Monday as they walked home from Orville Bright Elementary School on the city’s Far South Side.
Dozens of people showed up to the school Tuesday morning demanding accountability, some saying they’re shocked but not surprised by Monday’s incident and that the students involved should be expelled.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Chicago Public Schools have responded to the attack, which sent 33-year-old Chicago mom Corshawnda Hatter and her 9-year-old son to Trinity Hospital in serious condition. The mayor called the incident “absolutely gut-wrenching” and “appalling.”
There are a couple of things out of the norm about Mayor Brandon Johnson's statement about this attack: He didn't blame Trump or try to play the race card.
I was deeply disturbed to see the video of young people attacking a mother and her child on the Far South Side yesterday afternoon. That type of behavior is unacceptable in our city and we must not normalize that type of senseless violence. Leaders from my office have been on the… https://t.co/iKSB7MsE4O

Yep, here it is -- the problem is that Chicago schools don't have enough counselors and mental health professionals:
That type of behavior is unacceptable in our city and we must not normalize that type of senseless violence. Leaders from my office have been on the ground all day to coordinate with CPS, CPD, and CHA to respond to this incident. CPD has deployed additional resources to the area to maintain public safety, and we are working with CHA on additional measures to support the family. We have also activated support from community-based organizations that focus on youth services and violence prevention to provide safe passage for students and families at this school. I will continue to monitor this situation closely as I get updates from the ground and as the investigation unfolds.
It is critical that we provide the necessary resources to our public education system so that every school community has counselors and mental health professionals. We must redouble our efforts to teach our young people that violence is never an acceptable response. Our students and families should always feel safe on their way to and from school and we must make the critical investments necessary to make that a reality in every part of our city. I'm grateful for the community residents who have rallied to support the family and I am calling for calm as we conduct a full investigation and ensure there is accountability for the attackers and healing for the victims.
"We must not normalize that type of senseless violence"? That's amazing coming from one of the Democrats who normalizes and enables that very behavior.
Remember this doozy?

Also you probably noticed who Johnson didn't mention when talking about violence from mobs of young people:
“We must redouble our efforts to teach our young people that violence is never an acceptable response.”

No Brandon, that is the parents job…not the government. https://t.co/IOdSq5Pt21
To lefties like Johnson, the government IS the parent. And you see what kind of a job they're doing.
