Media: Trump's Crime Crackdown In DC Has 'Parts of the City On Edge' (the Crime Not So Much)

AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein

In yet another "good luck with that" moment for the Democrats, President Trump announcing a federal crackdown on criminals in Washington, DC has the Left basically coming out in favor of crime (again) with the midterm elections just over a year off.

Trump, Hegseth, Bondi, Pirro and others held a press event earlier today and made it clear that the days of being tolerant of crime were over:

Trump also said that "we're going to get rid of the slums" in Washington, DC, which of course will trigger the pro-slum Democrats.

The other reaction from Dems and media is that "crime is already way down in DC!"

Well, it depends on what your comparable definition of "way down" is:

As we've seen in the last few years, the numbers can be made into anything and it just depends on who's doing the calculating.

Let's just say that some people have been "messaging the numbers" when it comes to crime in DC:

All Trump had to do in order to get the Democrats and much of the media to defend criminals was to come out against crime. Amazing.

It's safe to say that the crime rate in DC is at least a tick or two higher than has been reported

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint.

The union claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year.

Pulliam — the former commander of the 3rd District that patrols Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights — was placed on leave with pay and told he was under investigation for questionable changes to crime data, five law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told News4.

So, you'd think that all the crime in DC would have had residents on edge.

Instead the journo spin is that Team Trump taking on crime in the city is what's causing alarm:

Unreal. But as usual the Democrats will appreciate the assist.

Trump tried to get the DC media more on his side with this reminder:

You just know that many in that press room would rather get carjacked or worse than ever support Trump's efforts to lower crime rates.
