As we told you earlier today, CNN Florida reporter Steve Contorno decided that it was a good time to try and compare Gov. Ron DeSantis’ actions during Covid-19 to what he was doing as a dangerous hurricane approached his state:

The two crises aren’t remotely comparable, but that’s not about to stop these CNN newshounds. CNN senior reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere later doubled down on Contorno’s tweet with this offering:

At that point, former DeSantis press secretary — now head of the governor’s re-election campaign’s rapid response team — had some decent advice:
Not everything is about politics. If you see a Cat 4+ hurricane approaching the coast of the United States and your first instinct is baseless partisan speculation, perhaps you should stop calling yourself a journalist.

“Baseless partisan speculation” pretty much sums up a large segment of the media these days.
