Former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power has concurred with Sen. Chris Murphy’s assessment of U.S. involvement in Yemen:
I’ve been at this for 3 years, and I am blown away by this.
By a big bipartisan margin, 63-37, the Senate just voted, for the first time, to move forward with a debate on ending American involvement in the Yemen war.
Thanks to @SenMikeLee @SenSanders for their partnership.

.@ChrisMurphyCT has rightly urged end to US role in Yemen since we in Obama admin got involved. We tried to use leverage to get Saudis not to kill civilians & we were ignored. Mattis just repeated flawed premise today. US support doesn’t influence Saudis; it emboldens them. https://t.co/VQdrlvQuOA

The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald has some thoughts on that tweet, considering the source:
Watching @SamanthaJPower continually use Twitter to simultaneously pretend that she's horrified by the destruction of Yemen while constantly whitewashing and justifying her own *vital* role in starting and fueling it is half sad and half revolting: https://t.co/MfMjrG03xN

Ouch.
100% revolting

Mostly revolting.

At least Power acknowledged the Obama administration’s role and demonstrated a modicum of self-awareness, which is more than we can say for many other former Obama admin officials.
