Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank has some sharp criticism for Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley over details of a hearing which is scheduled to take place tomorrow:
So @ChuckGrassley thinks he can limit coverage of Ford-Kavanaugh hearing by holding it in small room with few seats for public or press and by insisting on a list of which individual reporters will be admitted. Good luck with that.
— Dana Milbank (@Milbank) September 26, 2018
Is that Grassley’s fault? Democracy Dies in Darkness, yet again:
Thurs hrng w/Ford & Kavanaugh will be in smaller hrng room in Dirksen. Not TV friendly, cavernous room in Hart. In letter to Grassley, Ford said "she wants a hearing that won’t “become a media TV show.”

Milbank heard about it, not that facts and reality seem to have much place on the Left in this debate:
Pay attention. Ford requested it.

This is wrong.
The limited press presence is a request from Dr. Ford. Smaller room is part of that accommodation.
The chairman's office does not and will not pick and choose which reporters get access to the room.
Don't try to assign some malign intent where none exists. https://t.co/9566xg3paf

Keep up with the news, Dana. One camera was Fords requirement. https://t.co/TZFlbMmHDP

Why can't you blue checkmark liberals do a tad bit of research before tweeting something just flat out wrong? Does it even matter? Or you in it for the likes and RT's?
— Nick James (@NickJam54531190) September 26, 2018
Aaaand…this is why they call them #FakeNews.
All of this was requested by Ford's attorneys.
Seriously, people? https://t.co/crCzT2SedL

Hey Dana, those were Dr. Ford's request. read a newspaper once and awhile.
— Tejas Conservative (@TXGaryM) September 26, 2018
After being notified the requests were made by Ford’s legal team, Milbank went into spin mode:
These requests/demands were made by Ford. Why is @Milbank attacking and smearing a survivor? #BelieveSurvivors and let them pick who is in the room, or something. #Caring https://t.co/Ae6NpcTLCe
— Derek Hunter (@derekahunter) September 26, 2018
Yes, Ford made a number of requests. Grassley makes the rules and decided which ones to honor (limiting press) and which to reject (who questions, which order). This is first time I can recall a committee requiring list of individual reporters approved for entry. https://t.co/HdCB6Kh1Uy
— Dana Milbank (@Milbank) September 26, 2018
You know that this is at the request of Ford and her team right?
— TxSker (@TxSker) September 26, 2018
Right, because witnesses are the ones who determine which room a committee uses and which news outlets will attend. Of course. https://t.co/4QMJlJDRaQ
— Dana Milbank (@Milbank) September 26, 2018
Really?
Grassley accommodated her request because of safety concerns. I know it would kill you to admit the Committee has shown her any deference, but they have. The entire exchange is public.
— Stacey (@ScotsFyre) September 26, 2018
If they hadn't granted this at their request, you would have said they were bullying her. Please. Stop.

Yes, please.
