Recently the IRS claimed to have “lost” the emails of Lois Lerner and others due to an alleged crashed hard drive. As Twitchy reported earlier, the EPA now also claims to have lost emails due to a crashed hard drive. What. A. Coincidence.
Many in the media can always be counted on to provide a glimpse at an early spin possibility, as Sam Stein of the Huffington Post demonstrated with this question:
Does this give credence to IRS’ insistence that IT crashes not political coverups were the email problem? http://t.co/3QQ6brC14W

One government agency under investigation “losing” email could vindicate another government agency under investigation because it shows the problem can happen to anybody? Comedy gold!

Let’s take a deep breath to recover, and think about that again:
seriously, @samsteinhp earnestly wants to know if the EPA's "hard drive crash" actually proves the IRS is telling the truth

that's adorable

Nope, it still doesn’t make any more sense the second time.
@AceofSpadesHQ No way he believes what he said. Good grief.

@AceofSpadesHQ @JohnEkdahl And when the VA proffers IT crashes to explain it's own evidentiary problems, it'll have even MORE credence!

“Does more “lost” subpoenaed emails prove the IRS is trustworthy?” What fucking alternate universe do these people live in?

@samsteinhp Or does it give credence that federal employees know that so long as they go along with Obama, they will never be investigated.
— Zaggs (@Zaggs) June 25, 2014
@samsteinhp Yes, a "crash" in a second agency under investigation definitely indicates it's all truly accidental. Absolutely.

Stein was issued an investigative challenge:
