Guns were still allowed because there were no reports that people were going to either throw or shoot them at legislators. But it gets even worse, and we’ll get to that in a second.
As debate and voting proceeded on late term abortion legislation at the Texas Capitol, pro-abortion activists were entering the building with tampons, reportedly with the intent of throwing them at lawmakers opposed to late term abortion:

With that potential tampon hijinx in mind, authorities began confiscating them, much to the chagrin of those who believe throwing a Kotex at somebody is the best way to change that person’s mind:
RT @jawillie: So Texas is so desperate to keep the state RED they've taken to confiscating TAMPONS! #TamponGate #p2 #tcot #libcrib

Guns are just fine in Texas, but tampons and maxi-pads might be dangerous projectiles. PLEASE secede, y'all. http://t.co/7XxXJ5A10b

The Texas legislature security guards confiscated tampons from women entering. Guns were freely allowed. So this is America.

What the people complaining about the Great Texas Tampon Roundup of 2013 didn’t say was the reason the authorities temporarily banned those items, and it wasn’t just because they suspected they might be thrown:
DPS is no longer confiscating unopened tampons or other the like. Say the issue was earlier some were trying to bring USED ones in. #txlege

UPDATE: Per CNN #tampongate is over. Sick abortion activist attempted to bring in USED tampon to throw http://t.co/dX2Y9KqDu0 #stand4life

Used? Yes, used. But wait, it gets worse:

Stay classy, pro-aborts!
Texas Democrats idea of "civility": Little girls with sexually explicit signs, "Hail Satan," throwing bricks and feces at senators.

We’ll close with this important reminder that will likely fall on deaf ears where it’s needed most:
#TXLege RT @mjolnir72: @DLoesch If your side of the debate is getting ready to throw urine and feces, your side has lost.
