As we told you earlier, Sen. Chuck Schumer caused a few double-takes with this tweet:
I don’t agree very often with Chief Justice Roberts, especially his partisan decisions which seem highly political on Citizens United, Janus, and Shelby.
But I am thankful today that he—almost alone among Republicans—stood up to President Trump and for an independent judiciary.

Frank Luntz summed up just what Schumer managed to accomplish there:
In less than 280 characters, Chuck Schumer:
• Criticizes partisan SCOTUS decisions
• Criticizes Donald Trump for suggesting there are partisan SCOTUS decisions https://t.co/N6LqmUr7UI

Most impressive, Sen. Schumer!
I can’t imagine why people think that politicians are insincere. https://t.co/qC82YukkjO

He's got principles, and if you don't like them, he's got others. https://t.co/qQxzSbsPQU

We’ve come to expect nothing less from Chuck.
