I've been covering the "unusually harsh" (according to The Guardian) sentences handed down to the eight members of an Antifa terror cell who staged what apologists like The New Republic's Sam Russek have described as a "noise demo" at an ICE facility in Texas. One guy who wasn't even there when the officer got shot in the neck was sentenced to 30 years "for having leftist reading materials," according to Krystal Ball. That's not what he was sentenced for, but Ball is a moron.
Now, The Intercept is getting in on the terrorist sympathizer action, declaring a "five-alarm fire" for free speech because a domestic terrorist was sentenced to prison for "transporting zines."
Daniel Sanchez Estrada was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for transporting a box of zines he didn’t even write. The prosecution’s theory was that Sanchez moved zines, which discussed anti-government ideas, to conceal evidence in the case against his wife, Maricela Rueda. pic.twitter.com/aGxOsSxhbj

The prosecution's "theory" was enough to convince a jury. Yes, he concealed evidence. "Transporting zines" … give me a break.
The harsh sentence for a defendant who wasn’t even at the Prairieland protest is likely only the start of the Trump administration’s efforts to outlaw free speech. https://t.co/qPBkl0Qluv

"Paririeland protest."
One of the North Texas Antifa terror suspects told her partner, Daniel Sanchez Estrada, to hide evidence of the cell’s anti-government violent extremist ideology after they were arrested for the terrorist attack. He planned the evidence hiding with her and carried it out. It was… https://t.co/yyqyXAB3TL

To frame this as a free speech issue by a publication whose writers and readers support Antifa killing people for having right-wing beliefs is worse than lying.
He was hiding evidence, you communist liars.

Yet you still have the freedom to lie about this case.

His wife called him after she was arrested and asked him to hide evidence. Completely disingenuous framing.

It wasn't "the prosecutor's theory" that put Estrada in jail for 30 years. It was a jury. You understand how this works, I hope?

So many terrorist sympathizers are butthurt over these sentences. The guy who shot an officer in the neck was sentenced to 100 years in prison. I saw screengrabs of this post going around earlier this week.
It’s difficult for a normal person to understand what happened so I’ll try to explain. The terrorist committing a premeditated act of terror saw a cop coming to him and his comrades. He grabbed a rifle and fired at the cop. One of the bullets struck the cop.

… defense that he actually argued in the court was that he wasn’t firing at the cop, he was firing a warning shot at the cop, and the bullet must have taken a ricochet then hit the cop because he didn’t actually mean to shoot the cop.
Yes, that was his actual defense. This is why he was sentenced to 100 years lol.
I’d argue if your defense is you were firing a “warning shot” at a cop, you’ve already lost.

The defense claims in the case are hilarious. This, and one claiming they were shooting fireworks (at vehicles in ICE parking) to “lift the spirits” of detainees.

I guess they were also slashing the tires on ICE vehicles to lift the spirits of the detainees.
I can't tell you how many posts I saw declaring that there is no Antifa — if there were, you could name its leader. Never mind that they have organized cells all over the country and their own flag that says "Antifa" on it.
This was a terrorist conspiracy to lure out agents with fireworks and then shoot them. And the jury knew it.
