OK, before we get to Jake Tapper, I wanted to share with you this example of free speech. As I say all the time, I don't understand why people record videos of themselves making explicit threats — in this case, on President Trump and his family, including Barron — and then posting them to social media where they hope they'll go viral. Check out this hideous witch who's going to use her dark powers to assassinate Trump and eliminate his family members:

Maybe it's rhetoric like that, not to mention the assassination attempt at the WHCD, that led Melania Trump to not find Jimmy Kimmel's joke about having the glow of an "expectant widow" very funny.
"Enough is enough," Melania posted. "It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community?"
Remember, people blamed Trump for Kimmel being put in a time-out for four whole days after he claimed that Charlie Kirk's assassin was a conservative. Trump had nothing to do with that, just like he has nothing to do with Stephen Colbert's show being canceled.
After Melania made that post, CNN's Jake Tapper came to his buddy Kimmel's defense, arguing that "comedians like Jimmy Kimmel are not the ones hurling incendiary rhetoric and are not irresponsible for the rise of political violence." The replies to that were full of photos of Tapper attending a party at Kimmel's home.

As I reported on Saturday, (No Lie With) Brian Tyler Cohen posted that ABC was suing Trump over the FCC's probe into The View, citing the First Amendment. As usual, Cohen was spreading fake news. There was no lawsuit. ABC said in a filing with the FCC, made on behalf of one network affiliate in Houston, that regulators had a “chilling effect” on free speech by trying to punish political content they disagreed with. The complaint had to do with the affiliate airing an episode of "bona fide" news program The View with guest James Talarico during campaign season and not giving equal time to his opponent.
On Monday, Tapper used his platform on CNN to track down the one Democrat FCC official who sent a letter to ABC owner Disney accusing the Trump campaign of a "campaign of censorship."

For a member of a party that holds No Kings rallies, you'd think she'd have expected Trump to have silenced Kimmel and The View by now, as well as all other dissent. But all we get from the media, including these "bona fide" news programs, is dissent. It's ridiculous to think any other way. The FCC is just saying, if you're going to pretend to be a news program, you need to follow the rules for news programs. Kimmel can, and does, say whatever he wants. He has no fear of being "silenced." If he did, he might turn to comedy instead of political commentary and focus on entertainment.

As usual, the chyron writers at CNN have come up with a real winner: "Trump's War on the Media."
Get serious.
