You might know Liam Conejo Ramos as the five-year-old boy pictured in the blue bunny hat in stories about his "arrest" by ICE in January. He wasn't arrested … ICE agents stayed with him after his illegal alien father made a run for it, leaving his son behind. As I reported recently, the illegal alien father and his wife have run to the TV cameras. This month, CBS News sent a reporter to interview the boy and his family. Yes, they actually interviewed the 5-year-old and asked him what his biggest fear was. "Immigration," he responded in Spanish, to which the reporter added, ICE (doing a little coaching there to get the right answer).
CBS News immigration correspondent Camilo Montoya-Galvez also confirmed with the mother that she refused to open the door to her son when ICE tried to bring him home to stay in her custody, and the illegal alien father denies abandoning his child, saying ICE is lying. So Dad runs off, Mom refuses to take her son in, and he ends up detained with his father.
CBS News' reporter relayed that young Liam "is still living with the trauma." Liam is in therapy … his parents, who abandoned him, say he's not the same child: He’s afraid to go outside, asks if police are ICE, and worries they will “take me away again.”
Speaking of taking him away, why is he and his parents still here? In March 2026, an immigration judge denied the family's asylum claims and ordered their removal from the United States to Ecuador. The case remains under repeal. It's impossible to get rid of some people.
That story was posted a couple of weeks ago, but Congresswoman Sara Jacobs just picked up on the story and decided to exploit the boy some more.
ICE is traumatizing children like five-year-old Liam Ramos, who is terrified that ICE will detain him again. Jailing little kids doesn’t make us any safer – and American taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill for it.https://t.co/oP3te9w5lc

For a boy afraid ICE is going to take him away again, the press isn't hesitating to post his photo all over the media.
Liam and his family had an illegitimate asylum claim. The mom said they were seeking economic asylum (which is not valid under US or international law) on live TV FFS. Their asylum claim was denied earlier this year and now it’s time for them to return to Ecuador.

Stop trying to make us feel guilty for his parents poor choices. We have laws in this country. Stop using that poor child.

Sara — you’re trying to manipulate people’s emotions for your personal gain - stop promoting child and sex trafficking

His parents traumatized him.

We agree on the fact Americans should not be footing the bill for their stay. We should be footing the bill to fuel the planes and returning them to their rightful country of origin.

Im surprised you are still using this story. You know darn good and well that these accusations are false.

I don't give a fuck about Liam. Send his folks home, and if they want to, they can take him with them.

We shouldn’t be footing the bill for a lot of things, like Liam’s education and healthcare. We owe him nothing.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen and the Democrats tried to make a sympathetic figure out of Maryland dad Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who faces charges of human smuggling. They'd thought they'd hit the sympathy jackpot with the little boy in the blue bunny hat, but it's backfiring. His parents are here illegally. But they're not so shy as to refuse a feature story on CBS News, and somehow they have the resources to send little Liam to therapy to deal with his psychological trauma. He can go to therapy in Ecuador.
No criticism for the mother who wouldn't take him into her custody and turned him away?
Stop exploiting this kid. It's not working.
Why don’t you have any criticism for the parents who are the ones who actually put him and his family in that position?
