CBS News reports that some American citizens have been carrying around their passports in Minneapolis for fear of being detained by ICE. ICE does not detain you because you're mistaken for an illegal alien; ICE detains you for obstructing their work.
Some American citizens have begun carrying their passports in Minneapolis, fearful that they'll be mistaken for undocumented immigrants and detained amid a surge of federal agents to the city.

Lana Zak reports:
CBS News spoke with several people of color, some from immigrant backgrounds, who said they weren't leaving their homes without passports in the event they had to prove their citizenship.
Dana, who did not want to use her last name, said she's making her children carry their passports around because people don't immediately know her background when they look at her.
"I've been hiding in the house for the last two weeks, working from home," Dana, who is in the process of getting her own passport, told us. She said her oldest child was home from college and she wouldn't let her go into the city.
CBS News did manage to get one person of color on video:
In Minnesota, some U.S. citizens have told CBS News they are carrying their passports as federal immigration officers continue to detain people in the city. CBS News' Lana Zak spoke to three people who explained why they are carrying the documentation with them.

Immigration… pic.twitter.com/eRqaNAxjef
… enforcement officers have been carrying out massive operations in the city for weeks, which have been met with protests. Tension and fears escalated after federal agents killed two people – both U.S. citizens – in Minneapolis this month. One woman, an American citizen from Hawaii, told Zak that she fears she and her children could be racial profiled, so she is having her kids carry their passports.
A total of 3,000 ICE and Customs and Border Protection agents are now operating in the city and a top ICE official said Sunday that federal agents had carried out roughly 3,400 arrests in the area, though he did not say how many arrestees had criminal records. #ice #minnesota #immigration
Two American citizens were killed? Can you tell me a little bit more about the circumstances there? Are we talking about the mom who was just dropping her kid off at school and took a wrong turn, or the ICU nurse who'd become a full-time agitator?
There's one thing I hate more than illegal immigration, or more precisely, the mass formation psychosis that's formed around ICE, and that's exploiting your kids. This mom of a "bilingual family," who is white and blonde and has children who are all white and blonde, decided it would be really clever to tape passports to all of her kids' foreheads, 'cause that's what it's like in 2026 to be a bilingual family.
This should be enough evidence for dad to get custody…. pic.twitter.com/V6Nw0Dx3tF

They don't appear too frightened.
I'm sure this will come up in their therapy. "One time my mom taped my passport to my forehead."

Do all the kids wear whistles around their necks, too?
Obligatory nose piercing.

She took time to curl her hair for this. Also, probably rich. Most kids don't have passports. It's an expense and takes some work.

I was gonna say, if she has this many kids this young and they all have passports, they've probably just come back from a trip to France.
This is so freaking awful. What a terrible mother. I feel truly awful for these poor kids.
