John Harwood: Pete Hegseth Wouldn’t Have Blacks in Leadership and No Women

Twitter

John Harwood is such a hack. It's unbelievable that this guy once moderated a Republican primary debate. Live every other "journalist" who's been cut loose from corporate media, he's let the mask slip and revealed that … gasp! … he's a biased liberal activist.

As I reported earlier, Rep. Jason Crow called Secretary of War Pete Hegseth's speech to generals and admirals at Quantico "a disgusting scene." I'd bet the rank and file didn't see it that way. They were probably thrilled that there weren't going to be any guys in dresses and that their commanding officers would have to take a fitness test.

Anyway, Harwood says that if Hegseth had his way, the military would have no blacks in leadership positions — I don't know where he got that from — and no women at all.

How did he make that remarkably clear? Does he agree with Sen. Mazie Hirono that making a woman do a pull-up is "harsh"?

There are plenty of pending Community Notes that cite quotes directly from Hegseth's speech:

Secretary Hegseth referred to merit as the basis for special physical standards and promotion.

"...combat arms standards were changed to ensure females could qualify...this too must end; merit only."

"promotions across the joint force will be based on one thing: merit"

And:

"Of course, being a racist has been illegal in our formation since 1948. The same goes for sexual harassment. Both are wrong and illegal. Those kinds of infractions will be ruthlessly enforced."

We're not sure where Harwood heard it perfectly clearly that there would be no blacks in leadership positions.

Harwood got a good spanking from a black veteran:

That's so well said: "Hegseth understands that standards aren't discrimination. You don't."

Thank you for your service, Rob Smith.

As for you, Harwood, I'd thank you to shut up.
