I don't have many followers on X, which is fine because I never post anything. I have zero followers on TikTok, although I think I created an account. I've never downloaded the app, though.
As I say all the time, I can't believe the videos people choose to post on TikTok. This woman apparently shot a half-hour of herself on the floor crying, added a title — "My reaction to DJT taking the SNAP benefits that my kids & I live off of at 10:30 p.m." — and uploaded it. Maybe it's all for engagement, but I wasn't at all moved by actress Selena Gomez crying over murderers and child rapists and gang members being taken into ICE custody. She made it clear those were "her people."
As I wrote Tuesday, Sen. Chuck Schumer freaked out when President Donald Trump said he was issuing a "cruel" temporary freeze on federal grants. Schumer made a list of all who would be affected: hospitals, police departments, fire departments, food pantries, and on and on.
AOC chimed in that Trump was "holding all the nation’s hospitals and vital services hostage" in order to spread some fear and ignorance among her base. The White House made it pretty clear, though, that "any project that provides direct benefits to individuals is not subject to the pause." So your food stamps are still coming.
Q: Is this a freeze on all Federal financial assistance?
A: No, the pause does not apply across the board. It is expressly limited to programs, projects, and activities implicated by the President's Executive Orders, such as ending DEI, the green new deal, and funding nongovernmental organizations that undermine the national interest.
But Democrats want the people afraid, and this woman in hysterics are just the kind who buy into the fear that Schumer and AOC are selling.
