As Twitchy reported earlier, John Kirby took a turn at the podium in front of the White House correspondents, where the New York Post’s Steven Nelson asked about the poll showing 53 percent of Americans believe Joe Biden was involved with his son Hunter in an illegal influence peddling scheme. “Wow,” said Kirby, adding that “there’s nothing to these claims.”
Earlier this month, a whistleblower said the FBI has a document proving that as vice president, Joe Biden was part of an influence-peddling scheme. On May 10, House Oversight Republicans held a press conference during which they described in detail how the Biden family used associates (including China) to move millions and millions of dollars in what would amount to an elaborate money laundering and bribery scheme.
Rep. James Comer and Sen. Chuck Grassley have subpoenaed the document, but FBI Director Christopher Wray has announced he’ll let Comer and Grassley review the document but won’t turn it over to Congress.
🚨BREAKING: FBI Director Wray told James Comer and Chuck Grassley they will be able to review the FD-1023 form that alleges Joe Biden was involved in a criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national. This does not satisfy the subpoena’s requirement to turn it over to Congress. pic.twitter.com/19sNKmEzFi

But they will settle for “review.”

Wray knows the deal. He'll be cited for contempt of congress, the GOP committee members will scorch him for the cameras, then it will disappear from sight in 24 hours, and the whole thing goes away with Wray still running the FBI. That's how it works in Washington.

Director Wray is above the law. He’ll do whatever he wants.

I’m calling it now….. Nothing will happen.

Apparently Congress has zero authority.

Release it to the public.

Wasn't it just a week or two ago when everyone on the left was claiming no such document existed?
— ColonizerJakRandom (@ColonizerJak) May 31, 2023
They already know what the document says. The whistle blower told them. They need the document for evidence. Turn over the document!
— EdgarFree2Rock (@2Edgarfree) May 31, 2023
If all they can do is view it you can't use it as evidence I take it.

serious question – if the FBI won't comply with Congress, exactly who do they think they answer to?
— Pierre Delecto’s twin brother (@pierredelecto91) May 31, 2023
The Republicans haven't learned the right process from their Democrat predecessors. Start an impeachment inquiry. That's when Congress' powers are at their zenith, and the optics of the executive withholding docs during that inquiry would be terrible.

It’s not classified, so there’s no excuse for the FBI not to just hand it over. Some “olive branch” from Wray.
