Poetic: Sports writer who wanted Ivan Provorov canceled is canceled

Hockey actually made the news this week after Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov refused to wear a “Pride” jersey for the warmup skate, saying it was against his religion. Not wanting to wear it was a good enough reason for us, but sports journalists went a little bit crazy, from saying Provorov should have been benched to saying the Flyers should have been fined to saying Provorov should be sent back to Russia and made to fight against Ukraine.

We know, we should never celebrate anyone losing their job — especially journalists, who were a protected class on Twitter after a spate of layoffs and tweeting “learn to code” could get you suspended. So we’ll just celebrate that Provorov still has his job.
