You can pretty easily tell a liberal because they want fewer freedoms while screeching that the government (or, more precisely, the Supreme Court) is taking away all of their freedoms. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is welcome to putter around in an EV all he wants, but some people still need a vehicle capable of carrying more than three passengers.
Tyler Newcomb (he/him), an advocate of safe streets, managed to get someone (does he have friends) to take a picture of him flipping off a pickup truck that he thinks should be illegal because it’s taller than he is.
I’m the average male height the at 5’9”
This vehicle should be illegal. pic.twitter.com/4AM3L6CHwy

Well holy shit, this one blew up.
A few things: yes, some folks need trucks for work. I happen to be one. That doesn’t mean these dangerous, fashion over function designs should be legal. The NHTSA could regulate hood height and frontal visibility to reduce the danger.

Why? I never understood the idea of 'I don't like this thing. So it should be illegal'

But that’s a cab over engine, so the driver can see the innocent child running out in front.
why do you spend so much time worrying about what other people choose to drive and trying to dictate the behavior of others?

Doesn’t it just suck that people like things that you don’t like and do things you don’t personally approve of even if they’re not hurting anyone else in the process? The world just isn’t fair.

I see we're in the "look extra hard for things to complain about for clout" stage of the weekend.

People don’t think about the purpose of laws. It’s not a wish list. You want law enforcement to respond to call about truck height? If they refuse to change their truck— what then? Seize it? Steal from people? Lock em up? Cuz you got picked last in dodge ball? Think, nerd. https://t.co/Uj3V44eaDS

We need less laws for arbitrary preferences and good laws for actual harms that are articulated.
If it doesn’t effect your person or property, doesn’t impair public safety like street racing or drunk driving— no, we don’t need police officers responding or criminal cases filed.— BrutalBrittany💕 (@BrutalBrittany2) October 31, 2022
Using state power to assert control over another is the highest act of cowardice.
You’re not going to wrangle a dude bc their truck is “too tall”.
If it’s not a harm to person/property or threat to safety— don’t ask someone to show up with badge & gun. You wouldn’t, yourself.— BrutalBrittany💕 (@BrutalBrittany2) October 31, 2022
At the same time these are the people seeking to “defund the police” or elect radical progressive reformist prosecutors & judges. Who want everyone to walk out without bail to re-offend.
They also want police *measuring trucks* and saying, “This isn’t what I signed up for.”— BrutalBrittany💕 (@BrutalBrittany2) October 31, 2022
Don’t you ever think about what it’s like to be an officer tasked with enforcing a bad law?
They walked children out of schools in CA & NY over vx mandates. As if those kids could contract polio if they tried…
Never did they sign up to eject kindergartners, but I saw it.— BrutalBrittany💕 (@BrutalBrittany2) October 31, 2022
Do you think it was super cool when Uber drivers were being cuffed? Do you think it’s cool homeowners can lose their property due to fines for short term rentals, to which police would have to remove them if not voluntary? It’s not cool. It’s a bad legislation and commissions.
— BrutalBrittany💕 (@BrutalBrittany2) October 31, 2022
So stop making laws to force things on people that you would never physically intervene in, yourself.
The government is not a God to pray strikes your enemies with vengeance. It’s a referee when there’s a serious foul -infringing rights- that people can’t rectify themselves.— BrutalBrittany💕 (@BrutalBrittany2) October 31, 2022
I like that; "It's not a wish list." I'll quote you when I inevitably steal it.

As someone that drives this exact truck everyday I have no problems seeing anything and I see way worse drivers in SUVs! The comments on his thread are hilarious.

But we’ve been assured that you can’t see anything in front of you … that entire Prius just disappears from view.
If only everyone would live in the city within reach of public transit to work, or better yet, telecommute. We’ve seen this complaint before from a city planner and “urbanist.”
One of these is a problem. One of these is a solution. If you don’t know which is which, you have no business being involved in decisions regarding society in any way. pic.twitter.com/0JmLuxDge9
