Democrats and socialists (which are all too often one in the same) want as many people dependent on government as possible.
Some of them might publicly deny that, but sometimes one of them will make their true intentions loud and clear. And that's not just for American citizens. The Left has an interest in importing a dependency class as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has made very clear:

Yep, loud and proud. And Dems have already made it abundantly clear that their top priority is to try and prevent people already in the country illegally from being deported. Legal U.S. citizen taxpayers aren't even anywhere near the top of the Left's list of priorities.
