Mediaite: Republican strategist invokes death of reporter's infant daughter after CNN exposé; Richard Grenell responds

We forget exactly what it was that prompted CNN to hire Andrew Kaczynski to write the KFILE: Kaczynski had dug up an old interview or something with Donald Trump, and CNN wanted more of that — someone who would go through archives of Howard Stern’s radio show in search of dirt on Trump. Kaczynski broke stories like Trump appearing in a Playboy VHS video in the ’90s, though “the scenes featuring Trump do not contain nudity or sexually explicit content.” Pretty parochial for CNN to think that was a bombshell.

As Twitchy reported earlier Saturday, KFILE dropped some dirt on GOP congressional candidate, titled, “GOP congressional candidate Joe Kent’s ties to white nationalists include interview with Nazi sympathizer.” As someone pointed out, “It took 5 paragraphs to get to the part where it explains that this ‘interview’ was by a random guy accosting Kent on the street and asking him questions.” That’s a far cry from Jake Tapper bringing on known white nationalist Richard Spencer as a guest.

Anyway, Kaczynski’s nine-month-old daughter tragically died of a rare brain tumor in 2020. With that in mind, Mediaite reported that “Republican strategist Alex Bruesewitz was so displeased by reporting from CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski Friday he invoked the tragic death of the reporter’s infant daughter.”

Steve Bannon asked Bruesewitz about the report, and Bruesewitz “invoked the 2020 death of Kaczynski’s infant daughter from cancer”:

Yeah, it’s a guy named KFILE, he’s from CNN. He’s a total fake news hack. You know, he went through a rough patch, and I thought he would have changed hard and become a decent person after what he went through, but he’s still a lying piece of crap.

Here’s CNN’s Em Steck, who contributed to the Kent “scoop”:

Call this editor human garbage if you want, but he thinks Kaczynski would have had a change of heart going through what he did. But he’s back to doing the same hit pieces he did before. It’s disappointing.
