In March, when President Joe Biden was in Brussels for the NATO summit, he was asked by a reporter about food shortages. “It’s going to be real,” he said. A month later, Jen Psaki said that the Biden administration was not expecting a food shortage here at home, so that was a relief. Meanwhile, while people struggle to afford gas to get to work, the administration is making noises about forgiving student loans.
Last year, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended the Met Gala wearing a “Tax the Rich” dress, the train of which was carried by the help, who were all wearing masks while the celebrities were not. Facing a backlash, she said she deserved respect for having “punctured the 4th wall of excess and spectacle.” We’re not sure if she’s going again this year, but the theme sounds right up her alley: “Gilded glamour.”
The Met Gala returns Monday. The fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute draws pop culture's biggest stars to its red carpet — the true event of the evening.
This year's theme? “Gilded glamour.” https://t.co/3RuconlUVq

The WHCA and Met Gala just a few days apart, right after today's economic news.
Just absolutely perfect optics for all involved. https://t.co/CqJOyhMRG7

This is perfect and not tone deaf at all.
While we peasants struggle to buy groceries and gas, our betters will be parading around in gilded costumes. https://t.co/bbFuQNeTnz— Tracy (@tgrif74) April 28, 2022
Does anyone know a wizard who can summon a giant meteor? No reason in particular.

Will the workers be masked again this year?
— Erinn2ns (@Erinn2ns) April 28, 2022
Can you confirm that all of the icky, deplorable help will be masked, gloved and stowed away in the corners of the room? Else I refuse to attend.

Superspreader event.

tone deaf and to be blunt, not one soul outside of these elites gives a damn what they do.

Just perfect.

This will be a great kickoff to the recession caused by the guy these people told us to vote for.

Could the elites, fashion clowns and celebrities be more disconnected from reality? While inflation destroys middle class families, this is the theme they chose. Stop giving them your time and more importantly, your money.

The lack of self awareness ball😧

It’s for a good cause, though; the AP reports that last year the evening earned more than a whopping $16.4 million for the Met’s Costume Institute.
