Back on August 15, disgraced Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell found himself surrounded by FBI agents at San Francisco International Airport after getting off a plane. Swalwell was served with a warrant, and agents seized his personal property. Among those items were his Apple iPhone and MacBook Pro. Footage of that encounter has now been published by The California Post.

Swalwell has been virtually invisible since he dropped out of the California gubernatorial race and resigned from Congress back in April.
Those two events happened after Swalwell was accused by multiple women of assault, sexual misconduct, and rape. The California Post explains why Swalwell’s devices were seized.
The FBI warrant used to seize Swalwell’s phone and laptop cited a federal civil-rights statute that can be used to prosecute public officials who abuse their government power — suggesting the feds may suspect Swalwell used his official role to silence women who accused him of sexual misconduct.
One former staffer has accused Swalwell of raping her when she was too intoxicated to consent, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Another woman has accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2018, while two others have alleged he sent them unsolicited images of his genitals.
Swalwell has denied wrongdoing.
The contents of those devices have not been released.

One commenter wondered why Swalwell’s fall seemed coordinated.
It's interesting... up until his run for CA governor, Swalwell could say or do anything & was untouchable. Wonder what happened inside the Dem machine that he was "offered up" as low hanging fruit.

The Democrat Party couldn’t risk Swalwell diluting votes for other party candidates and ending up with two Republicans facing off in November. They also couldn’t risk him being in the top two with a Republican and then having the scandal drop. They had to get rid of him.
