Rep. Cori Bush made quite a still on social media Monday when she tweeted that white supremacists hid behind a hill while she and others marched in Ferguson to protest the killing of Michael Brown and shot at them, but never faced consequences. Her point seemed to be that if Kyle Rittenhouse were acquitted, it would be a green light for white supremacists to shoot people.
When we marched in Ferguson, white supremacists would hide behind a hill near where Michael Brown Jr. was murdered and shoot at us.
They never faced consequences.
If Kyle Rittenhouse gets acquitted, it tells them that even 7 years later they still can get away with it.

A lot of people on Twitter questioned the story, but the media seemed to ignore it.
So it's 2 days later.
Has any Congressional reporter confronted @CoriBush with either of these questions? https://t.co/40jy9rufvb

It looks like someone at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch made an attempt to get to the bottom of the story.
"Squad" member @CoriBush said "white supremacists" shot at Ferguson protesters.
But Ferguson police say they have no idea what she's talking about.

TBH, neither does she.

Bush, a Democratic Missouri congresswoman and defund-the-police activist, on Monday said, “When we marched in Ferguson, white supremacists would hide behind a hill near where Michael Brown Jr. was murdered and shoot at us,” adding the alleged shooters “never faced consequences.” According to Ferguson police chief Frank McCall, however, there is no record of such an incident.
“Not that I’m aware of,” McCall, the city’s fourth black police chief, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bush, who did not return a request for comment, defended her claim, with her campaign telling the Post-Dispatch, “While on the frontlines of the Ferguson Uprising, Congresswoman Bush and other activists were shot at by white supremacist vigilantes.”
So Bush didn’t comment, but her campaign verified that white supremacist vigilantes shot at them.
Never let the truth get in the way of a narrative.

I'm beginning to think Cori Bush and Joy Reid have a bet.

No one will hold her accountable

That’s because @CoriBush is full of crap, and an instigator.

How many rounds did these white supremacist vigilantes shoot? Did people run for cover or just keep marching? No one filed a report with the police?
