The week’s impeachment inquiry hearings inspired the Washington Post on Saturday to run a piece called, “In Trump’s Washington, the rogue actors are the real players — and the experts are increasingly irrelevant.”
Of course, we’ve been hearing all week in the media that those testifying before the House Intelligence Committee are members of the “Deep State,” which the media used to deny existed but now praise as a cadre of heroes saving the country from the president and his policies.
The Washington Post found a former State Department official who fears that if President Trump is elected to a second term, impeachment will make him hellbent on the destruction of the civil service:
Today, the focus in the White House is on weeding out the civil servants and diplomats called before Congress. When the hearings shifted to public testimony, Trump and his allies took to Twitter to disparage them.
“Everywhere Marie Yovanovitch went turned bad,” the president wrote of his former Ukraine ambassador as she answered lawmakers’ questions.
Trump attacked Jennifer Williams, an aide to Vice President Pence, and Vindman, two experts on Ukraine and Eastern Europe who are still working in the White House, as “never Trumpers.”
…
“Unfortunately, the impeachment will make the president hellbent on the destruction of the civil service if he wins a second term,” said one former State Department official who spent two years serving in the Trump White House. “It’s terrifying.”
It only sounds terrifying if you’re part of the civil service, really; otherwise …
Good

It should be terrifying – when unelected bureaucrats actively undermine the elected president's priorities & policies, driven by the delusion that they are morally and/or intellectually superior, they deserve to be exposed and dismissed.

Civil servants who leave public office with millions then land a sweet deal with the corporate media complex, write a book and laugh all the way to the bank at stupid people who worship them? Those civil servants?

Who keep their pensions after lying under oath?

Good. Rip the CIA to shreds, gut the Clintonistas from the Federal LE bureaucracy and quash the NSC.

Best news I've heard in months!
Drain the swamp!
— Frank Hart (@FrankHartII) November 23, 2019
If the swamp things we’ve seen over the last couple of weeks are indicative of people in the civil service, then something does need to change.
These self important paper pushers need to understand their role & that they‘re subordinate to the elected and appointed above them.
— Neil Axelrod (@NeilAxelrod) November 23, 2019
This is what people voted for. Hard to argue they weren't justified. These people will destroy the rule of law to get what they want. Trump is their worst nightmare.
— UnfrozenCavemanLOLer (@CavemanLOLer) November 23, 2019
This sounds great. The testimony this week has shown us that unelected bureaucrats believe that they run policy. We need to burn civil service down and start over. Ensuring that the power rests in elected officials.
— Ben Peterson (@jazzfan71) November 23, 2019
Oh, it's sooooooooo terrifying. Lol. Whatever. Trump should clean house in his second term.
— kerry ⭐⭐⭐ ?? (@K1erry) November 23, 2019
You say that as if it's bad thing. ?
— Deplorable But Thankful Marie Wh*te (@sisalgirl) November 23, 2019
As a civil servant, I welcome and look forward to celebrating @POTUS second term! ❤️????
— Awakened One (@Luann_Joyful1) November 23, 2019
The civil service on a top officer level which pretty much has nothing but lawyers needs cleaned out anyway. So i say go for it. FBI/CIA etc, all filled with dirty lawyers at the highest levels, that is a big problem.

"The impeachment will make the president hellbent on the destruction of the civil service if he wins a second term"
This thought brings joy to my heart.
Time to uproot the rampant corruption and life-long employment engendered by working in "civil service" https://t.co/BmOAPFlIMp
— Jeff Carlson (@themarketswork) November 23, 2019
The biggest mistakes the Trump admin made was not replacing all the Obama admin people at the beginning. Trump was showing he would work with these people but they used their positions to go after him instead. Maybe replacing all those folks was not feasible at the time.

Don’t threaten me with a good time
— Newer Yorkier Times (@NYTimsier) November 23, 2019
If by “civil service” you mean arrogant, unelected swamp monsters, then yes. And that’s what I wanted him to do. I want a smaller, more efficient government that’s responsive to We The People.
— Lisa against impeachment (@Purrpatrol) November 23, 2019
You guys really don’t get the narrative you are only helping to amplify as it builds, do you? Oh well, the same foolishness that thought the last two weeks of the Schiff Show was great… as independents broke against them.
— OverTheMoonbat⭐️⭐️⭐️ (@OverTheMoonbat) November 23, 2019
As a retired fed civil servant I can confirm that firing half of the fed workforce would allow the remaining half to get some actual work done.
— Lars Kerch (@Laughing_Lars) November 23, 2019
Truth
— Sherry Moore (@SherryM81394668) November 23, 2019
You do understand that the civil service answers to the president, and not the other way around, right?
— Allan (@AllanRicharz) November 23, 2019
What can he do? I've been told that all of our civil servants are of the highest moral caliber, have acted honorably since they were hired and drip patriotism from their pores. None could possibly have anything to fear.
— Insolent Puppy (@Insolent_Puppy) November 23, 2019
Good. Clean house. Trump’s 2nd term is gonna be lit. pic.twitter.com/7hs7kigTk3

Not the destruction but a good case for decentralization of the Washington bureaucracy.
— Apocalit (Pronouns: Dude, Duder, El Duderino) (@listolyman) November 23, 2019
The fact the the civil service controls that much power should be scary to all of us. I thought we elected our Government?
— Tony Maloy (@TonyMaloy1) November 23, 2019
If re-elected, the Trump administration will disrupt entrenched bureaucratic hegemony in WDC. Dectralization of functions and departments, a curtailing of the influence of ABC agencies, far greater transparency. If we see sweeping indictments, then profound reforms. Bet on it.
— Jack Dwyer (@JDwyer0317) November 23, 2019
You're finally getting it.
— Hiding In Plain Trite (@RealDanLee) November 23, 2019
Actually dismantling the pretentious unelected bureaucratic state would be awesome!
— Yoak (@Yoakdaddy) November 23, 2019
Removing lifelong bureaucrats from positions that they usually hold onto until they die is really not a bad idea. The country might actually get something done.
— Emeraldwolf (@Emeraldwolf4) November 23, 2019
We sent him there to do just that the first time. Maybe now he’ll actually do it.
— Donald (@cpm_rulz) November 23, 2019
Any American who watched even but 5 minutes of the days-long hearings, will be pretty happy about that.
— Heather Champion (@winningatmylife) November 23, 2019
Tearing it down and starting over would be a good thing indeed.
— NiceGuysFinish1st (@NizeGuize) November 23, 2019
fingers crossed.
