Look, if you ask us, we don’t really care how much Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez paid for a haircut, but that’s because we’re capitalists and we believe people should have the choice of how to spend their own money. If she’s got it, fine. We’re more concerned with her carbon footprint on that recent flight to and from Copenhagen to talk about climate change.
Scott Walker decided to subtweet Ocasio-Cortez, though, with a selfie of his $26 haircut:

Not bad, but you know, it’s like Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison says … it’s morally wrong that women’s haircuts cost more than men’s.
Haircuts for women cost more than those for men. Also health care, car repairs, etc. That’s reality for the awesome @AOC and every other woman. It’s morally wrong and it threatens the economic security of women and everyone who depends on her income. It’s the "pink tax”.
— Keith Ellison (@keithellison) October 11, 2019
Bill Kristol didn’t say it was morally wrong, but he did see Scott Walker’s tweet and wondered why middle-aged men are so obsessed with and/or afraid of Ocasio-Cortez.
I am not a feminist, nor an AOC fan (would someone let me know if she has a credible centrist primary opponent so I can contribute?)–but the degree to which middle-aged men seem to be obsessed or feel threatened by her would be a good topic for an academic social psychologist. https://t.co/pDIn3z2S7P
— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) October 12, 2019
So now Walker is obsessed with Ocasio-Cortez because he tweeted a photo of his haircut? Kristol says he’s not a fan of Ocasio-Cortez, but he’s reading directly from her playbook.
Louise Mench knows what’s up:
Surely @ScottWalker is simply trying to get what he perceives as an attractive woman’s attention, by trolling her.
— Louise Mensch (@LouiseMensch) October 12, 2019
Sorry, Scott, she’s not going to date you.
You are totally a feminist.
— Sarah Longwell (@SarahLongwell25) October 12, 2019
For the record, that’s the publisher of The Bulwark.
All this proves is the disparity that still exists between what women pay for the same damn services men get.
— SpiritOnParole⚡Savage?Democrat⚡ (@SpiritOnParole) October 12, 2019
We’re pretty sure a lot more work went into Ocasio-Cortez’ hairstyling that into Walker’s cut, but whatever. Kristol might have thought he was defending her, but he’s getting a lot of flak for declaring himself not a feminist.
Bill, why do you need to proclaim yourself “not a feminist”? I think the honestly contemplated answer to that question would help you and all of us understand the older male reaction to AOC. You’re not as far away from that as you think.
— Shrishanti (@wewillprevail4u) October 12, 2019
Bill, I’m a lifelong Democrat. I deeply respect you, even when we haven’t held the same political positions. You’ve presented yourself most certainly as a feminist in nearly every interview I’ve ever seen – what is laughably sad is that you clearly have an issue with the label. pic.twitter.com/sfxtzTTHUM

He’s conserving conservatism.
You don't think women and men should have the same rights? What the hell is your problem?
— Margo Jones (@3DTruth) October 12, 2019
“I am not a Feminist, but…” is why I think NeverTrump Conservative men are worse than Trump supporters. Instead of red hats and beer and overt-ism, they clink scotch glasses, pontificating, while pretending they don’t share the same fear their privlege is being threatened.

What EXACTLY is your definition of a “Feminist”?
— Musele (@PepiSouthern) October 12, 2019
Why aren't you a feminist?
— Patrick Petrelli (@PatrickPetrell1) October 12, 2019
It's against his white-male-privilege religion.
— unclewalter (@unclewalter1685) October 12, 2019
What do you have against equality with women?
— Deborah (@deb2227) October 12, 2019
Why are you not a feminist?
— BRAD (@PassTheBrad) October 12, 2019
You're not a feminist? My first question is — WHY NOT?!
The degree to which middle-aged men seem obsessed with distancing themselves from the term "feminist" would be a good topic for an academic social psychologist. 🙂
— Dallas Gal (@DFW_Dee) October 12, 2019
Thank you ??????‼️ @BillKristol can you answer? What do you think a feminist is???
— ?”Toots”OldWhiteWoman (@zeninawad) October 12, 2019
Maybe Kristol thought he could separate himself from the “middle-aged men” demographic by standing up for Ocasio-Cortez this one time?
