As Twitchy reported earlier Thursday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sure made it sound like there’s a national emergency at the border after seeing a photo of hundreds of migrant families being held in an El Paso parking lot because the Border Patrol had no room for any more inside.
Now 2020 presidential contender Sen. Kamala Harris has weighed in, and she too agrees that there’s a border crisis that needs to be addressed.
What’s happening at our border in El Paso is unmistakably a humanitarian crisis. Leaving families outdoors in cramped, unsanitary conditions with little or no access to hot food and showers is cruel and a violation of their human rights.⁰https://t.co/QHMls4lFV0

No hot showers? That is monstrous, and the people of Mexico and Central America should be warned there might not be hot showers available when they reach the U.S. border.
So it’s a violation of human rights to be overwhelmed by thousands of migrants traveling in caravans and all arriving at once with children in tow?
Here’s some common sense from Rep. Dan Crenshaw:
Still not a manufactured crisis.
More evidence. Every. Single. Day. https://t.co/YBzr5xFeyI

Remember when Rep. Eric Swalwell zinged President Trump over his hyping of his “Scaravan Stunt”? And when CNN’s Brian Stelter assured us the southern border was not being “overwhelmed”? It was all just Republicans trying to scare people before the midterm elections, right? Now you just know CNN will lead off the news tonight with coverage of the crisis at the border.
So, Sen. Harris, your plan to handle the humanitarian crisis at the border when you’re elected president is what exactly?

So you’re admitting it’s a crisis?

Almost as if it were a National Emergency….
— Gary Coggin (@gcoggin) March 28, 2019
Thought there wasn't an emergency at the border.
— Wooly Joe (@JoeAmend1) March 28, 2019
I was told there was no emergency on the border. Even by @BetoORourke , and isn't this his home town?
— RedGeorgiaClay (@darkskies4180) March 28, 2019
Heck, Beto O’Rourke says he’s going to take down the border fence in El Paso when he’s president.
Hang on. First you said there was not a crisis. Now there is? There are only three ways to solve it. 1) Improving border security, which you were opposed to. 2) Open the borders completely, which everyone else is opposed to. 3) Improve border security AND the vetting process.

Why do you ignore the plight of American citizens who are homeless, the majority of which live in the slums your party has created. @KamalaHarris

Is this San Francisco? That’s what I saw when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

So it’s much like several areas in California. Gotcha. ??
— John McDaniel (@abrader23) March 28, 2019
For a start, why don't you "practice" this brand of compassion with the homeless and vulnerable *citizens* who are suffering in the state in which you were elected? ??
— Cee Level (@CeeHag) March 28, 2019
The cities in your home state are a cesspool of litter, human waste and homeless encampments. It’s now spilling over into the small towns that can’t begin to handle it. You have no viable solution, only failed policies that add to the problem

They should have stayed home. We all know whats going on. Now its a crisis. Drop out of the race. You have no idea how to be a President of this country.

I would never show up anywhere and believe that I am entitled to “hot food and showers” let alone the border of a nation that I’m not a citizen of.
— Alison Waite (@aliewaite) March 27, 2019
Heck, you’ll be entitled to hot food, hot showers, Social Security benefits, and a free college education after Democrats take back the White House.
