Pro-lifers disagree that March for Life 'moved away' from Donald Trump after abortion comments

As Twitchy reported, Donald Trump took heat from both sides of the aisle with his (since “clarified”) comment to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that “there has to be some form of punishment” for women who have abortions. Of course, both Planned Parenthood puppet Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders made sure to get as much milage out of the comment as quickly as they could, but pro-lifers let it be known that they too “recoil at arguments pointing toward penalizing moms.”

Words mean things, and those same pro-lifers took issue with a tweet by NBC News’ Luke Russert noting that the March for Life Education and Defense Fund in a press release had quickly “moved away” from Trump.

It might seem like a subtle distinction, but to say that the March for Life “moved away” from Trump implies that the two ever shared the same neighborhood, let alone the same ZIP code.

Of course, the fact that so many on the pro-choice side of the aisle believe that Trump’s original comment is representative of the pro-life movement necessitated that they set the record straight.

Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund, wrote in her statement, “No pro-lifer would ever want to punish a woman who has chosen abortion. This is against the very nature of what we are about. We invite a woman who has gone down this route to consider paths to healing, not punishment.”

Maybe give FRC president Tony Perkins an hour or so to get to the TV studio before passing judgment?

Following Trump’s “clarification,” Perkins made the very sensible suggestion that the candidate move closer.
