Not only is Bloomberg Politics correspondent Jennifer Epstein seeing too many photos of alleged Charleston mass killer Dylann Roof in her Twitter feed; she’s not even referring to him by name, but simply as “this horrible kid.”
She’s not alone.
I'm much more interested in seeing pictures and reading words about the victims than photos of the sick monster who did this. #Charleston

Please stop posting pictures of this sick man. He doesn't deserve to be famous or infamous! Evil has no face. #CharlestonShooting

I'm tired of seeing terrorist tongue. No more photos of that mushroom of a man, please.

Mitch Pugh, executive editor of The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C., says his paper has deliberately not printed a photo of Roof on its front page.
For those wondering, it has been a conscious decision not to put #CharlestonShooting suspect's picture on our front page.

@SCMitchP @charlesapple why not once? You don't think print readers want to see what he looks like?
— Richard Lodge (@RichardLodge_DN) June 20, 2015
@RichardLodge_MW @charlesapple Do you think thy don't know what he looks like? And it's on an inside page.
— Mitch Pugh? (@SCMitchP) June 20, 2015
@SCMitchP @charlesapple I'd run with 1st day story soon as pic was available. Older print readers might not folo web or TV. IMHO.
— Richard Lodge (@RichardLodge_DN) June 20, 2015
@RichardLodge_MW @charlesapple I'm ok with some "older" readers having to flip a page or two to get a look.
— Mitch Pugh? (@SCMitchP) June 20, 2015
@RichardLodge_MW @charlesapple I've got nine sets of families and friends that don't need to see his face on every newsstand.
— Mitch Pugh? (@SCMitchP) June 20, 2015
Amen.
@SCMitchP @charlesapple I understand that but an editor's job is to inform readers, not protect everyone from terrible news.
— Richard Lodge (@RichardLodge_DN) June 20, 2015
@RichardLodge_MW @SCMitchP i would argue he IS informing. Just not on page one. Plenty of pages inside, too.
— Charles Apple (@charlesapple) June 20, 2015
It’s probably a solid assumption that those who buy any newspaper eventually open it up and check out the inside contents.
@RichardLodge_MW @charlesapple I stand by our record of informing the community.
— Mitch Pugh? (@SCMitchP) June 20, 2015
@SCMitchP Tell your staff there are lots of current and former journalists thinking about them right now and wishing them strength.

@SCMitchP And that is much appreciated.

Paraphrasing a tweet seen earlier, SC seems to be handling the grief and unity thing very well. Perhaps the media should stop giving advice.
