An interview with actor Vince Vaughn in British GQ magazine revealed that he’s a staunch Second Amendment supporter, bringing the gun control debate back to the forefront of the headlines after a relatively long absence. It’s not like guns ever went away, though.

For example, as Twitchy reported, Texas just passed open carry legislation and looks ready to follow up with legalization of campus carry. And now it looks like concealed carry without a permit is about to become state law in Maine.

Legislative victories like these are receiving next to no coverage, but “grassroots” gun-control groups like Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America have teamed up for what they hope will be a national media event Tuesday, the first-ever National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Guns.com reports that a coalition of celebrities including Julianne Moore, Sarah Silverman and Michael Stipe will join gun control groups in wearing orange in honor of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed at a Chicago park in 2013. The color orange was reportedly chosen because it is the color hunters use to identify each other.
