High-tech security: White House fence to get pointier in July with bolted-on spikes

It’s no secret that the United States Secret Service has suffered a lot of embarrassing (and potentially dangerous) White House intrusions over the last couple of years as assorted nuts simply climb the White House fence and make a run for it.

You might remember last fall when experts enhanced White House security after a fence-jumping incident days earlier by doubling the size of the “buffer zone” between the White House fence and a row of “Barrycades” lined up on the sidewalk out front:

Six months later, the White House is prepared to take the next step: pointier points.

The “removable anti-climb feature” is only a temporary measure; something a little more permanent is coming in 2016, allegedly.
