Military Times: State of the Union guest list light on veterans, troops

The last time we checked in with President Obama and his efforts to improve the shoddy and sometimes fatal lack of treatment of America’s veterans, he and his motorcade were spotted blowing past the Phoenix VA hospital where administrators kept secret waiting lists on his way to a speech at a high school.

It’s no surprise, then, that Leo Shane of the Military Times reports:

Troops and veterans will be largely missing from the audience at President Obama’s annual State of the Union address Tuesday night, at least in the House chamber.

Only two service members will be official guests of first lady Michelle Obama for her husband’s address to Congress tonight.

The guests in the chamber for the event are often reflective of the themes of the president’s speech. This year’s guests include immigration advocates, families who have benefited from recent health care changes and an Ebola aid worker.
