'Double facepalm!!!': #BlackLivesMatter protesters slam Oprah for looking for 'messiah style' leadership

That tweet from 2013 shows just how far ahead of the curve Oprah Winfrey is; she managed to outrage the #BlackLivesMatter movement even before there was a #BlackLivesMatter movement. Her crime then? Tweeting about the OWN network’s comedy showcase “Herlarious” when the rest of America was reacting to the George Zimmerman verdict.

Winfrey apologized for those tweets, but now has managed to piss off activists again with her comments in a People magazine interview.

“I think it’s wonderful to march and to protest and it’s wonderful to see all across the country, people doing it,” Winfrey told People. Of course she thinks it’s wonderful. Why, then, hasn’t the billionaire media mogul joined the marches?

Because she’s waiting for specific steps from “some kind of leadership” that the movement hasn’t yet produced. The thing is, the younger protesters in particular are proud of using social media to organize themselves and produce their own lists of demands.
