Mark Cuban’s admission that, “If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it’s late at night, I’m walking to the other side of the street,” was a topic of conversation on Fox News’ “The Five” Thursday. Co-host Katie Pavlich echoed Cuban’s words, saying, “If I see a black kid in a hoodie walking down the street late at night and I’m walking down the street, I cross the street because I feel unsafe.”
“Same thing with the tattoos on the guy on the face with the bald head,” she continued. “I’m protecting myself in the name of safety to get away from that person. It’s not about being a bigot or being prejudiced. It’s about simply putting my safety first.”
Mediaite singled out Pavlich’s response, under the headline, “The Five Host: I’m Not ‘Bigoted’ but I Cross the Street When I See a Black Kid.” Mediate noted Pavlich’s response as the “strangest” (despite Bob Beckel’s self-described fear of “old ladies” and Eric Bolling’s admission that, “If I saw six clowns, I would cross the street”).
Hi @Mediaite I agreed with Cuban & said I cross the street when I see white dudes with tattoos on their faces too. Ridiculous headline/tweet

Pavlich, though, wondered why Mediaite left out a quote by Jesse Jackson, Jr., read during the segment by Greg Gutfeld. “There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life,” Jackson has said, “than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”
Hi @Mediaite, funny how you conveniently left out the quote on air from Jessie Jackson saying he worries about robbery for the same reasons

Hi @TheMattWilstein, why did you fail to put in your headline that I cross the street to about white dudes with tattoos on their faces?

Hi @TheMattWilstein, why did you fail to report the Jesse Jackson quote we put on air about him fearing his safety? Weird.
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) May 23, 2014
Hi @TheMattWilstein, your headline is completely out of context, why not add in that I voiced the same opinion on safety about white dudes?
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) May 23, 2014
According @TheMattWilstein & @Mediaite, if u say you cross the street out of safety when u see suspicious males late at night, you're racist

Hi @TheMattWilstein, I will never compromise my personal safety for the sake of political correctness and other women shouldn't either.

If @TheMattWilstein & @Mediaite were honest, they'd fix their headline, issue correction and include the Jesse Jackson quote that was aired.

After four hours @TheMattWilstein & @Mediaite haven't corrected their bogus, completely out of context headline pic.twitter.com/S54Rf8i2IH

@KatiePavlich @Mediaite and we're not going to. We reported exactly what you said. Your words, you need to live with it.
— Matt Wilstein (@mattwilstein) May 23, 2014
Why did you leave out the Jessie Jackson quote in your piece? Why leave out my comments about white men in the headline? @TheMattWilstein
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) May 23, 2014
Oh that's right, you won't correct it or add context because you're a lying hack @TheMattWilstein @Mediaite
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) May 23, 2014
Ladies, if you cross streets at night to get away from black or white men as safety precaution @TheMattWilstein will smear you on @Mediaite
