It's the law? Obamacare has missed half of legally imposed deadlines

The White House trolled the participants of the #ObamacareInThreeWords hashtag game in May with a photo of the president’s signature on the bill with the three words, “It’s. The. Law.” America has since learned those three words don’t necessarily apply to the whole of Obamacare, though. It’s also the law that the employer mandate takes effect Jan. 1, 2014, but that’s been pushed back a year. A cap on out-of-pocket medical costs has also been delayed, also without congressional approval.

In fact, a report published in Forbes yesterday shows that the White House has missed half of the deadlines legally required by the Affordable Care Act. Sen. Ted Cruz’ suggestion that Congress “delay it all, forever” is looking more and more prophetic every day.

Though many of the deadlines are for what writer Avik Roy calls “bureaucratic busywork,” he notes that quite a few rules that would safeguard the privacy of medical records “have either yet to be developed, or have been meaningfully tardy in their arrival.”

In other news, how’s that legally mandated border fence coming?
