‘Let’s delay it all forever’: Sen. Ted Cruz calls for full Obamacare repeal

That didn’t take long. Less than an hour after Bloomberg reported that implementation of the employer mandate of Obamacare would be pushed back until 2015 — sparing Democrats the burden of defending an almost certain train wreck during election season — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was on Twitter calling for a more comprehensive hold on the twice-delayed legislation. Cruz’ suggestion to delay implementation of the entire Obamacare law, forever, was a hit.

While we’re at it …

I’m with Sen Cruz!! As is 60% of the country or so depending on what poll you look at.

    Cruz Control!!!

    • Jeremy

      Hell Yeah!!

    • Ken Alan Draper

any surprise that corresponds roughly to the percentage of American’s who are actual tax payers?

      • CDUB

        Sadly, no surprise.

  • James S.

I thank God every day that the inept, bumbling fool David Dewhurst isn’t in the Senate. Texans should be proud!

    • BAW

I am proud. Makes me feel a little better about misjudging Rubio. But then I worry that whatever goes wrong with them when they get to DC could happen to Cruz too. Then I remind myself, this is Texas. We would take it very badly.

      • James S.

I know, Rubio ate us all for lunch. I can’t stand the Republican party as a whole, but they are all we have at this point. When one of them turns so obviously that even the TV-watching sheeple and logo-obsessed narcissists can see it, things are very bad.

I am praying for Cruz. I think he’s real, but I am on my guard more than ever. And yes, we would react quite a bit differently than the tepid, semi-patriotic Florida crowd.

        • June Maulfair

There is a recall effort afoot in Florida for Rubio–I don’t call that tepid….

          • James S.

I will believe it when I see it … and I REALLY want to believe it.

  • Stephen L. Hall

If Justice Roberts had done his job and actually followed the Constitution, this mess would have been over by now.

    • CDUB

Thanks, I forgot about that. The battle is long to save our country.

      • Just Another Guy

        You have to wonder….NSA? IRS?

        • Elaine

Absolutely know something was not right about that ruling from him!

    • Cecil Price

I have a problem with Justice Roberts opinion, but let’s just look at it like this; if, as he states the penalty for the individual mandate was a tax, ( an argument denied by the backers) and the backers still stated after the decision that it wasn’t a tax, doesn’t that still make the whole thing unconstitutional? I’m serious about this question.

      • Stephen L. Hall

The problem becomes that as a tax, it can not be challenged in court until it is actually imposed, meaning that you have to pay the tax then sue on the basis that it is Unconstitutional. The decision did not state that it was Constitutional, only that it might be upheld as a tax.

The good news is that the argument that it fails as a tax is nearly unassailable. It is not really an income tax as it is based upon spending, or rather non-spending; and it fails as an excise tax because it is based on consumption not production, or rather non-consumption.

At the time, my husband suggested Roberts had been extorted and had to find a believable way to let Obamacare go through. I thought he was nuts back then. Now, with the NSA spying exposed, I think he may have been right- probably on behalf of his spouse/child/parent/in-law or someone else close to him. I wouldn’t put anything past this administration.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz: “Obamacare delay is sign of president’s commitment”

LOL It’s a sign of retreat, and We the People will see this “Unconstitutional” Obamacare- (“Un”affordable care act) Law- (regardless of SC CJ Robert’s betrayal to We the People and America), Repealed, just like prohibition.

  • OLLPOH ~ America

Repeal all and We The People Will Have a bon fire with it and we will roast marshmallows at the Washington Monument, because it is entirely monumentally an illegal piece of legislation!

    • Jeremy

      I will get the marshmallows.

      • Just Another Guy

I’d bring chocolate and graham crackers, but we don’t want any “S’more” of Obamacare

  • RedSoloCup

    Go for it!

  • ObamaFail

Obamacare is still going to be a trainwreck and damaging to our economy, no matter when it happens. Democrats just wanted to delay it so they could watch the damage from the Senate and the House and applaud as Obama begins the final steps of his agenda. No matter when it happens, Obamacare is going to be bad for our country. So let’s make sure it doesn’t happen period. By getting all of the America hating trash out of Congress, we can repeal it. And if Republicans are in charge, Obama would have to sign the repeal. Otherwise they could just impeach his ass.

The gutter trash that typically bow at Obama’s feet whenever he tramples on the economy will get upset at the idea of someone wishing the repeal of Obamacare and the impeachment of Obama. But the negative aspects of Obamacare effect you idiots as well. You will be fined heavily for not getting it just as fast as the rest of us. If any liberals actually work for a living, they face job loss, wage cuts, and a drastic cut in hours. Just like the rest of us. You idiots are effected too. You should be wanting this crap to be done away with as well.

    • Chris Hightower

You cannot impeach a president for refusing to sign a bill. The president has the power of the veto, which would simply force the bill back to congress to be passed by a 2/3 majority.

  • stuckinIL4now

I agree with Sen Cruz. And just repeal Obamuh.

  • iMarcusCicero

don’t delay. force them to explain why employees are being fires. Dems will crash and burn

  • michael s

    not happening ted.grow up ted.

  • westside_resident

It still brings full implementation into the pre-election 2014 time period as that is when employers will be rolling out 2015 benefits plans.

  • Dave

How about a twist on Joe Biden’s words: “Big Effin’ Mistake.”

  • http://www.davidsmusings.com/ David

I have to say one of the tweets was really interesting. Does the executive branch have the power to delay a law? I hate Obamacare, but Obama needs to eat this before 2014 mid-terms.
