Jared Lee Loughner, who is charged with killing six people and wounding 13, including then-Congresswoman Gabriele Giffords at a town hall event in Tucson, Arizona in January 2011, has pleaded guilty in the case and will be sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.

Loughner’s federal psychologist, Dr. Christina Pietz, had testified that Loughner at times had doubted that Giffords had survived the shooting.
Dr. Pietz: #Loughner is shocked Giffords survived, also disappointed he failed at killing her. He said of himself, "Jared is a failure."
