A California bill proposes to expand that outlook further, allowing a child to have multiple parents. State Senator Mark Leno is proposing legislation eliminating the limit of two parents per child. “The bill brings California into the 21st century, recognizing that there are more than Ozzie and Harriet families today,” said Leno, citing surrogate births and same-sex adoptions.
The Children’s Advocacy Institute gives three examples of multi-parent families.
