As Twitchy reported this week, Expert™ Tom Nichols shared that listening to the House impeachment debate on the radio, he was struck by how President Trump’s defenders all had “similar speech patterns and accents.” “Seems to me the GOP is headed for becoming a rump regional party of the South and the mountains,” he tweeted.
Washington Post conservative blogger Jennifer Rubin felt compelled to add her take:
and the non-college educated
— Jennifer Rubin (@JRubinBlogger) December 18, 2019
National Review’s Charles C. W. Cooke has been writing about disdain for the non-college educated for some time and spoke up:
The way in which @JRubinBlogger openly looks down on people who didn’t go to college does not just represent a personal failing on her part, it taps into a growing trend that is damaging American society. I’ve been writing about this for almost a decade. https://t.co/msSw45msJh

My Dad left school at 15, served in the Air Force, started his own business, and eventually went to college when he was 64. Was he a lesser citizen until he hit retirement age? Was his father, a carpenter, less generally useful? That’s increasingly the implication, I’m afraid.
— Charles C. W. Cooke (@charlescwcooke) December 21, 2019
This isn’t an argument against college. I went, and enjoyed it. It’s an argument for appreciating people who don’t take that path—people who have real, admirable, useful skills, and are just as much citizens as everyone else. America does not need a clerisy.
— Charles C. W. Cooke (@charlescwcooke) December 21, 2019
America's premiere man of letters, Sam Clemens, had little in the way of formal education, and no college; yet on his worst day, he was a hundred times the writer and thinker Ms. Rubin will ever be.

Most plumbers I know would quickly recognize this as insecurity on her part.
— DHB (@DavidHarleyBoyd) December 21, 2019
And all plumbers are more useful than @JRubinBlogger
— Lisa Page’s Cabana Boy (@MaryCohen68) December 21, 2019
She’s just awful.
— Scott (@LowKeyScott) December 21, 2019
Every tweet of hers dripping with contempt for the “uneducated”
— PDK (@pdkier) December 21, 2019
I'm college educated and find her attitude disgusting. College degrees don't necessarily confer wisdom or character.
— MSM Is Cancer (@spazzTeeBee) December 21, 2019
Jennifer Rubin is and always will be an elitist. And proof that a college degree does not make you smarter.
— Kat (@irishlassaz) December 21, 2019
I would bet that everything she owns or buys was made, packaged, tested, or picked by someone without a college degree. I know a lot of people without degrees that are much smarter than some of the people I went to college with.
— Redneckdog (@Redneckdog1) December 21, 2019
Her entire life is based on a lie, one that everyone understands to be a lie, and now she's decided to go all in on HRod's successful, "Basket of deplorables" theme.
— GrampyRick (@Grampy_Rick) December 21, 2019
The Democrat who famously worried that Guam would capsize if too many people congregated on one side of it has a law degree.
Back to the drawing board, Jennifer. Stay there until you get it right.
— Missile Toe (@corrcomm) December 21, 2019
Rubin has a focused education, she writes and condescendes well. However she wouldn't know the first thing about operating a Nuclear Power Plant to keep her electricity on, or running a farm to keep food on the table.
She is the epitome of an Ivory Tower Liberal.
— Boomer Bot ⚔️ (@kmjoseph705) December 21, 2019
I read her piece where she talks about this. It’s just a lot of words to divide people into an “us vs them” situation. It’s a way for @JRubinBlogger and those like her to feel morally superior to someone who chose, or didn’t have the opportunity to attend college. Terrible.
— Thomas J. Ryan (@ThomasJRyan4) December 21, 2019
You show Rubin far more grace than she deserves. The pre-judgemental disdain she shows towards an entire segment of the population reminds me of similar attitudes I saw growing up in the rural south. Those were about education levels, however. Her heart is the same as theirs.
— Mark Harrison (@meh130) December 21, 2019
Tell me about it. Try being black in the rural south. ? Life isn’t fair. Get over it, as I did, and be the change you want to see in the world. Elites will be elitist. That won’t ever change.
— Patroski Lawson (@Patroski) December 21, 2019
The other problem is people like Rubin also want everyone to pay for others going to college.
— Bhess (@Bhess) December 21, 2019
I joined the Army to pay for my college. Where there's a will there is a way.
— Bhess (@Bhess) December 21, 2019
It is the way most theological and ideological groups band together with the like-minded, are gratified in their righteousness, and disdain and disparage who they view as uniformed. Leftists have been insidious in their use of force, the state, even death to achieve their means.
— Lurch (@roesner) December 21, 2019
My grandfather was a bricklayer, he built himself into a millionaire through hard work and investing. And Jennifer thinks people like my grandpa are bad or "dumb". I may have a university degree, but he's far smarter than I am.
Sitting in lectures for 4 years means nothing.
— random thoughts (@musings_n) December 21, 2019
Thanks okay, look down your nose at that plumber, electrician or carpenter who probably makes more than many college grads. He or she will just add another 20% to your bill and laugh all the way to the bank.
— natehale (@natehale) December 21, 2019
I'm just a dumb master electrician who never went to college and I'm OK with the fact Jennifer Rubin doesn't like me.
She also can't troubleshoot the simplest of series-parallel circuits.
— Right_Burner_Acct (@Dem_Nemesis) December 21, 2019
The truth is some of the dumbest, most unproductive people I have met in my life are college grads who make the mistake of assuming a framed credential automatically confers ‘smartness’ on them and they can rest on their laurels. Give me a lifelong learner every day of the week.
— Mint (@Babbas70) December 21, 2019
It must be painful for Ms. Rubin to have to acknowledge that my no degree vote counts just as much as hers, and my money spends just as well as well.
— DonTa (@BigdonsBaitshop) December 21, 2019
Abandoning midwest union and blue collar workers is how the Democrats got trump.
— lodenscheistn ? (@lodenscheistn) December 21, 2019
Would love to see @mikeroweworks sit down and have a conversation with her on her failed mindset.
— jlow (@jlow18) December 21, 2019
I like Mike too much to subject him to that torture.
— Conservative X (@Conservative_X1) December 21, 2019
Progressives with their advanced college degrees can't even field a candidate that can beat Donald Trump.
Death of Expertise or something
