As Twitchy reported earlier Tuesday, CNN’s Brooke Baldwin made no attempt to correct her guest who called it a “defining moment” that someone like Bill Cosby was going to prison while Brett Kavanaugh was still a candidate for a seat on the Supreme Court. “Anyone that’s defending Kavanaugh could not in the same breath now applaud this,” Yodit Tewolde claimed.
Now the New York Times seems to be doing the same thing, conflating the cases of Cosby and Kavanaugh in “a flurry of #MeToo news” and turning to readers for their thoughts.
We want to hear how our readers are viewing this week’s flurry of #MeToo news about Bill Cosby and Judge Brett Kavanaugh https://t.co/6ELb98t8Mf
— The New York Times (@nytimes) September 25, 2018
I would, but I'm afraid you'd print anything I said out of context and misleading.
— Cathherine Windsor (@cathwindsor) September 25, 2018
True, but …
You’re seriously comparing them? https://t.co/4WM778p1UC
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) September 25, 2018
Well, Kavanaugh’s a rapist too, at least according to those three boys who staged a school walk-out to support Christine Blasey Ford.
Cosby is on tape less than a year after the alleged incident admitting to giving Constand pills and then offering to pay for her education (presumably as hush money). He's settled multiple civil suits for sexual impropriety. Dozens of women have accused him of similar things. 1/2
— Amy Swearer (@AmySwearer) September 25, 2018
2/2 Meanwhile, accusations against Kavanaugh are starkly contrasted by the man's character in the 30+ intervening years, and every alleged witness – including the accusers friends – have categorically denied either being at a similar party or seeing Kavanaugh act in that manner.
— Amy Swearer (@AmySwearer) September 25, 2018
So yeah, they're basically the same thing. Because reasons. Reasons that no one can rationally explain. But reasons.
— Amy Swearer (@AmySwearer) September 25, 2018
As expected. They conflate everything. Legal immigation / Illegal Immigration being a prime example.
— Stan Stinson (@Stan_Stinson) September 25, 2018
This is intentionally disingenuous. These 2 are not in the same universe and you know that.
— Jax Jags Corp (@JaxJagsCorp) September 25, 2018
How is this remotely the same?!?!
— ╾━╤デ╦︻ ShallNotBeInfringed (@LOUISlANIMAL) September 25, 2018
Why are those two subjects together?
— Neva (@pipandbaby) September 25, 2018
That hot take isn't going to heat itself.
— Andrew Lloyd (@andrewtlloyd) September 25, 2018
1. One was convicted of drug induced rape & sentenced to 3-10 yrs in prison.
2. The other has been accused of sexual assault without one piece of evidence or one witness corroboration.
3. @nytimes including both men gives them journalistic integrity below the National Enquirer. https://t.co/BXKxtOPMDt— The Right Wing M ?? (@TheRightWingM) September 25, 2018
Let's see, one man was accused and got to hear the accusation against him and was able to mount a defense.
The other was slimed for his political view. Denied the right to face his accuser, examin the evidence against or otherwise mount a defence. #BeBetter

Yes, let us compare someone who was found guilty in a court of law with someone who has not even been charged with a crime. You are officially a joke of a “news” paper. #FakeNews
— babynetman (@babynetman) September 25, 2018
the difference between @BrettKavanaugh and @BillCosby is there is actually proof of assault. Simple accusations don’t cut it.
— earmentrout (@earmentrout) September 25, 2018
One was found guilty in a court of law the other is being judged and destroyed in the court of public insanity foregoing the innocent until proven guilty cornerstone of our judicial system…hmm what do I think?
— Christi Harris (@5goofy24) September 25, 2018
Let's see if you can understand:
1. Cosby accusations – backed up with factual evidence resulting in a conviction in a court of law.
2. Kavanaugh accusations – #metoo politically weaponized by the Democrat Party with no substantive evidence whatsoever.
Summary: No comparison.— Linda Thomas (@_smthgbeautiful) September 25, 2018
I’ll tell you how. That placing these two situations in one comment for comparison is hopefully just another nail in the coffin for you’re failing, irresponsible so called newspaper. You can’t go out of business fast enough.
— Mike (@Chi_Mike) September 25, 2018
You can’t possibly compare Cosby to Kavanaugh. New lows @nytimes
— Bresaola (@cbrescio) September 25, 2018
A better comparison would be – Bill Cosby & Bill Clinton.
— Wayne for COPE ?????? (@Wayne31515956) September 25, 2018
Now we are getting somewhere!
— Lisa Lynn (@LisaLynnsTweets) September 25, 2018
One is a convicted felon. The other is an innocent man. Comparing the two is like comparing the NYT with real journalism–it's just BS.
— SL Nichols (@slnichols2) September 25, 2018
I have two questions for the NYT; (1) If we’re going to lump Kavanaugh in with Cosby, why isn’t Keith Ellison in this conversation? (2) Why has no one pressed Sen. Feinstein on why she sat on Dr. Ford’s allegation during his confirmation hearing? We could’ve ended this weeks ago
— Alex (@AAW9573) September 25, 2018
Hey, thought you might want to catch up with Keith Ellison, you know, just for laughs. His former GF has an interesting story. No pressure, tho. I’m sure you’ve got a lot on your plate right now. False accusations and all. God speed!
— Stefano (@Steffenheimer) September 25, 2018
It's very telling how you put Cosby and Kavanaugh in the same headline, as if they are the same. Remember how you wanted fake news reported to you? This qualifies.
