Oh really: ThinkProgress journo says secret Omarosa recording catches Trump laughing over dead US soldiers

The last time we covered ThinkProgress’s Aaron Rupar, he was trying to weasel out of accusing Zina Bash of flashing a white power sign during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, so we know well to approach any of his claims with skepticism.

Such as this one:

First of all, can we say that it was awfully low — if not illegal — for Omarosa to be secretly recording meetings inside the White House? And second, why does Rupar seem to think this audio recording is some kind of “gotcha” moment?

Trump and his staff have a laugh discussing an ambush in Niger that left four U.S. soldiers dead? For anyone interested, the recording and the transcript are right there in the tweet, and it’s clear that the chuckle was over President Trump’s claim that “I don’t think I’d want to be a terrorist right now.” Fetch the smelling salts!

It’s pretty easy to tell from the comments who exactly listened to the recording and who just read Rupar’s tweet.

Next thing you know, Trump will be caught on a mic talking about “the menace of radical Islamic terrorism” on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

How are those book sales, Omarosa? That seems to be the point of all this.
