OK, it’s time to hate Elon Musk again. It’s really difficult to keep track: on the one hand, he in a matter of days whipped up a working mini-sub to help save those kids trapped in Thailand, but then again, he’s a billionaire and therefore a cancer on society. But wait, now he’s donating whatever it takes for Flint to get clean drinking water — but that’s an ominous sign for the nation.
We’d thought his electric cars would have secured the good graces of the Left, but no. Now Musk has been found to have donated to a PAC to help get Congressional Republicans elected.

Nate Silver points out what The Daily Beast itself pointed out in its piece: Musk donates plenty to both sides.

Correcting this—per @derekwillis, Musk made a another contribution to the Republican PAC in June, which was too new to be reflected in the data I linked to. So that's the most recent. He has a long history of making contributions to candidates and PACs in *both* parties, however.

But his most recent donation was to the GOP, so he’s on the naughty list — even though that link to Open Secrets reveals that Musk donated to Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, Cory Booker, Adam Schiff, Steny Hoyer, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Midterm Victory Fund, for starters.
