The Democratic Party's war on reality and guns continues apace. Since the horrible shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Left has made it very clear they're coming for our guns.
But, much like they repeatedly lie about anti-abortion laws, they have to lie about the guns in an effort to pass their agenda.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, whose city saw 54 people shot and seven killed over the Labor Day weekend, has decided the problem is not Chicago's refusal to prosecute criminals but the fact that nearby states do not have the draconian gun laws he desires.
Back on September 2, he began the push to blame Indiana and other Republican-run states for the fact that gangbangers turn the Windy City into the Wild West on a nightly basis.
Four days later, he's repeated that lie again:
CPD has taken 24,000 guns off the street since I took office, most of which originated from Republican-run states outside Illinois. The Trump administration’s budget cuts to federal gun violence prevention agencies like ATF will lead to fewer investigations and operations with… pic.twitter.com/gzBKt4vBPE

This is demonstrably false.
The majority of guns used in Chicago crimes are traced back to Illinois guns shops:
More than one-third of Illinois guns used in crimes recovered by authorities are linked to Chicago.
And Illinois gun shops were the leading single-source of these crime guns state and citywide, not out-of-state vendors, according to data recently released by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Chicago police recovered more than 10,000 guns last year, but not all were traced, according to the Police Department.
When law enforcement takes in a gun tied to a crime, they may ask the federal bureau’s tracing center to track down the gun’s original manufacturer, seller and buyer. The statewide tracing data shows information where the guns originated, what types of guns are being recovered and how long it takes for the gun to be used in a crime after it is bought.
More than 8,600 of the nearly 20,000 guns recovered statewide last year were used in crimes committed in the city, according to the federal statistics. Only 15,306 of those guns recovered statewide were successfully traced.
For the sake of argument, though, let's assume Johnson's assertion is correct and guns do come from red states.
My response is: so?
Illinois and Chicago laws prohibit such behavior. If gun laws worked, it wouldn't matter if Indiana had zero gun laws on the books. Chicago's anti-gun legislation should prevent such crimes.
I notice it doesn't.
Why?
Because criminals keep breaking those laws -- and the pesky ones about homicide -- with little concern for the consequences.
Perhaps that's because Johnson thinks putting criminals behind bars is 'racist and unholy,' which means criminals have no fear of repercussions. This includes guys like William Livingston, who was recently arrested after assaulting a fifth woman in downtown Chicago. His victim suffered severe head and facial trauma, which was finally enough to get prosecutors to keep Livingston behind bars for longer than five minutes.
Democrats excel at punishing the innocent rather than the guilty, because they -- like all good communists -- thrive on the chaos that comes with unfettered crime. And Brandon Johnson is one of the biggest commies of all of them.
So rather than address crime, Johnson and his fellow Democrats are pushing to strip me (and all of us) of our Second Amendment rights while they set loose guys like Livingston in the name of 'criminal justice reform.'
It would be nice if Dems like Johnson didn't have to lie to pass their agenda. They won't stop, because they can't.
Even if they were honest, I'd never take the Democrats seriously on gun control, of course. In fact, I just bought more ammo for my AR-15, and I suggest you all do the same.
After all, the Second Amendment shall not be infringed. No matter how many times the Democrats lie about it.
