DC police complete investigation into David Gregory, turn case over to local attorney general

The Washington Post is reporting that Washington, D.C., police have finished their investigation of David Gregory following his brandishing of a high-capacity ammunition magazine on Meet the Press. The case has been turned over to the District of Columbia’s prosecutorial authorities, who must now decide how aggressively to prosecute their strict gun control laws. So what happens next? Well, according to the Post:

The question of how to proceed now rests with the office of Attorney General Irvin B. Nathan, which oversees prosecutions of some low-level offenses. A spokesman for Nathan said the office would not comment until a decision was made.

Whether Nathan decides to do anything is anyone’s guess. However, given the severity of the recommended punishment, he would have some explaining to do if he chooses to ignore it.  According to the report:

Possessing a magazine capable of holding 10 or more bullets, even if empty, is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

So, Attorney General Nathan, how dangerous do you think that ammo clip is to your citizens? It’s time to decide.
