A viral clip making the rounds shows students at Burlington public school openly refusing to go along with a planned Pride Day, skipping the suggested rainbow colors and, in some cases, answering the pronoun question with “USA.”
Yup. The kids are smarter than the teachers.
It was only a matter of time.
The footage has school staff looking rattled as the kids treat the whole exercise like an optional suggestion rather than a required ritual, and the post sharing it has already pulled in tens of thousands of likes from people who clearly enjoyed watching the script get flipped.

The kids who sat out the color scheme and answered the pronoun question with their country instead of a preferred label did not need a permission slip to do it. They just needed a room full of adults who had spent years treating compliance as kindness, and the video shows what happens when that assumption finally meets a hallway that has other ideas.

Whether the panic is real or performative, the clip is already doing the work the press release never will: reminding everyone that a school calendar is not a loyalty oath, and that a generation raised on these rituals is more than capable of thinking for themselves and declining them out loud.
