Wasn’t Sen. Al Franken once a featured cast member on “Saturday Night Live”? You know, the show that NBC broadcast live every Saturday night?
For a comedian, Al Franken's improv skills leave something to be desired.

No kidding. Franken and fellow comedian Sarah Silverman were told to stretch out their bit at the Democratic National Convention because Paul Simon was apparently having technical problems. A few minutes of improvisation shouldn’t have been a problem, but something threw off the timing of these two masters of comedy — maybe it was the loud chants of, “Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!”
DNC organizers tell @SarahKSilverman to stretch – so Paul Simon can get set – but that allows space for chants of Bernie to break out.

Oh dear. Silverman chanting "Unity" and Franken chanting "Hillary."

Quick, think of something funny to defuse the situation.

Sarah does the "feel the bern" joke, and Al reprises it – because no one has heard that enough. they're as edgy as a snowball.

Oh, this is where Al Franken does his impersonation of a struggling, hapless comedian.

Honestly, I can vamp better than that

given that Garrison Keillor and Al Franken were apparently the funniest people in Minnesota, I'm starting to have certain questions
