Late-night television used to offer an after-evening escape from the worries of the world. But over the last 10-15 years, the once comforting comedians of Letterman, Leno, and Carson passed the banter baton to younger replacements. The new generation shifted from lighthearted laughter to partisan political propaganda. The beneficiaries are the Democrat Party, of course. Nothing epitomizes this one-sided approach to late-night like the ending of The Late Show featuring Stephen Colbert and the official X account of the Democrats offering its personal ‘thank you.’

Four reasons why his show is no longer on the air.

A Democrat retrospective.
Sorry for your loss. The five people still watching will have to go to bed early now.
Colbert’s main purpose was to promote and prop up his fellow Democrats.
Posters thank the Democrats for acknowledging Colbert’s important role in their party.
I can think of no better way to confirm that Colbert was firmly planted on one side than the blue side he was on thanking him for his nightly efforts to push their cause.

Dems publicly acknowledging that Colbert was a DNC propagandist

Thank you for reminding us that Colbert was an activist, not a comedian.

Republicans certainly aren’t laughing.
Democrats don’t care. In fact, they’re rubbing it in our faces. Prominent members of the party are offering their personal praise for Colbert's service. (WATCH)

Stephen Colbert has a talent for making people laugh and encouraging them to stay curious, stay engaged, and stay hopeful about the world around them.@StephenAtHome: Thank you for your voice, your creativity, and so many memorable conversations over the years. Cheers to you. pic.twitter.com/etK8Izb7NY

‘So many… conversations over the years.’ Indeed.
Here are more send-offs. (WATCH)
Whether riding a bicycle on Capitol Hill or joking about Congress on the Late Show, Stephen Colbert is always outspoken.

We’re all proudly in tandem with you on your next adventure. Thank you @stephenathome! pic.twitter.com/1ufn8FJxKN
Thank you, Stephen Colbert, for years of laughter, and speaking truth to power and never backing down.
— Ed Markey (@SenMarkey) May 21, 2026
The Late Show is ending under the shadow of FCC pressure and corporate fear. The FCC’s job is to protect the public interest, not serve Trump’s interest. https://t.co/6Ua313RqlU
‘Speaking truth to power’ is activist speak.
Despite accolades from only Democrats, historian and frequent Late Show guest Jon Meacham maintains that Colbert was first and foremost a comedian. Sure, Jon. (WATCH)
MEACHAM: “Stephen is an architect of the culture. And ... we’re going to miss him, miss his insight. And for those who say, ‘Oh, he was too political, too partisan,’ you know, always worry when they come for the comedians.” pic.twitter.com/gcwNWLpJPF

They didn’t “come for him.”
— The Paul Leslie Hour (@thepaulleslie) May 22, 2026
People didn’t watch him and so they canceled his show.
The martyr mythos that ‘journalists’ and their fellow Democrats have crafted around Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel is ludicrous,
Numbers don’t lie when it comes to determining that Colbert’s show was a platform for the Democrat Party. (WATCH)
"Stephen Colbert had 176 elected Democrats on his show & he had one Republican & that Republican was Liz Cheney... as Colbert's show became the unofficial late-night propaganda arm for the Democrat Party."

Liz Cheney? She was on solely because she was against Trump. In other words, put her in the ‘D’ column.
Late-night is not losing a laugh-maker.
Colbert was just another cog in the Democrats propaganda machine and it is good for TV and the nation that that machine is being dismantled and we get back to a more normal way. The eulogy that the radicals have given him is beyond the pale and just simple nonsense.
— Johnny Doester (@bothen) May 22, 2026
All the Democrats praising Colbert for having them on multiple times tells you everything you need to know. The left is upset because their paid propaganda machine is going dark.
— The Dank Knight 🦇 (@capeandcowell) May 22, 2026
Colbert is just the first late-night Democrat domino to fall. These shows aren’t profitable or popular. It’s only a matter of time until the next party mouthpiece falls, and the Democrats post about what a loss it is.
