The Luby’s massacre is one of the deadliest mass shootings in United States history, but a message from one of the survivors is just as today as it was in 1991.

On October 16th, 1991, a gunman drove to a Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas and opened fire on the customers. He killed 23 people and injured at least 20 others before ultimately taking his own life.

One of the survivors, Dr. Susan Gratia-Hupp looked back on the incident that claimed the lives of both her parents during a testimony before Congress, and expressed regret about her decision not to bring her handgun with her into the cafeteria.

Hupp’s argument as to why our 2nd Amendment right shouldn’t be infringed is perfectly explained below:

“I’ve been sitting here, getting more and more fed up with this talk about these pieces of machinery having no legitimate sporting purpose, no legitimate hunting purpose. People, that is not the point of the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment is not about duck hunting…it’s about our right [gestures behind her] to be able to protect ourselves from all of you guys up there [gestures to politicians].”

Do you agree with her powerful testimony?
